We can..I guarantee you a good established mid major guy would take it for that kind of money, but for some reason it appears to me that JH doesn't want to go that route.

Weren’t you the one telling everyone to call down when names like Matt Campbell, Luke Fickell, James Franklin were being thrown around???....and we ended up on Heupel.

I'm as much a Vol as you or anyone else on this board and I will always hope for and crave the best for my university and this football program. But hope and want don't always change reality. What I hope for and what I expect given what I've seen and read are two different things. And I don't think we, we as in all VN posters, need to attack each other for having different opinions. If someone is positive and believes we're doing okay, that's their opinion. If someone thinks we're in deep doo-doo, that's a valid opinion as well. It's alright to disagree, but damn, can't we do it in a civil way instead of turning directly to insults?

And I'm not talking about the teasing we all do amongst each other. That's playful and innocent. But some people really roll out the vitriol when someone expresses an opinion they don't like. This isn't bash other posters into submission until they agree with you by being hateful. We're all Vol fans. We all want what's best for this team. We all have varying opinions on what we think is best for this team. Sometimes it's okay to just agree to disagree. We don't have to turn it into internet tough man contests.

Too much bad blood for that to work the way this played out. This is a cluster and there's no other way to spin it. This AD and coach were dealt a horrible hand.

Do we really need to go there? I never proclaimed to know the answer. I just recognized the process. I trust the AD we have now. JH is our HC. Get behind him or GTFO of Big Orange Country!

I mentioned it earlier but I’m telling y’all, KS isn’t going to be butthurt. He gets paid regardless. And who’s to say he can’t adjust his D philosophy to cater to an up tempo offense. He has some age on him. If he gets the call, he could be a proven guy that helps get his alma mater through a tough patch for a few years. If it works, he’s a hero. If it doesn’t, he has sanctions to blame. All the while he’s still getting paid and can either retire or find another landing spot.

This has all the signs of bad news. You try to be positive that something good will happen and just maybe Tn has a fighting chance to come back to some kind of relevance and they just need some good coaches to jump start it but you end up with coaches that you have to google and you still have no clue who they are. This University has all but destroyed this football program, not the fans.

Wouldn't hurt the two greenhorns (D W and JH) to have a coach on staff, who knows how SEC football is played.

Most of our admin problems went away with Fulmer. They’re not spiraling, media is playing make believe.

The only thing that’s certain right now is that only ONE person has been offered the job. Washington, and we still don’t know what he’s gonna do. Anyone saying he’s going, staying, or someone else has been offered is 10000% bulls**t.

The absolute floor for this thing is Steele

I am adjusting my expectations..it's either accept reality and root for an underdog, or be completely miserable wanting something that just is not going to happen for a while.

My hope for now is that at least Heupel can build a consistently good to great offense over the next few years, and go from there.

Baby steps..

I hate when people say "get behind him or you're not a real fan", which is basically what you're suggesting I'm behind the team, not the coach. Right after the season ended, were you saying "get behind Pruitt or gtfo"? People seem to confuse team and coach. Do I want and hope JH has success here? Absolutely, because that means the team is doing good. But I'm not "behind him", per se, because if he can't get the job done after being given a fair chance ,<---- notice the conditionals, then I'll be ready to move on. I'm always going to want what's best for the team. I don't care who the coach is if we're succeeding and moving forward.

I'll also hope for the best for whoever we end up hiring for DC, even if it's a lackluster hire.
