No, there’s no way to gauge that. You took my comment and apparently applied it to other topics lol. Your comment implied that people hiring coaches are inherently smarter. History at many many programs suggests otherwise.
That's for a candidate to decide. You can't hire someone against their will so that's a silly concern. What you can do is go after the best candidates and make them an offer that is hard to pass on. If they accept, great. If not, move on. No need to let your ego stand in the way and restrict the hiring pool to VFLs.The best coach won’t be someone wanting to be somewhere else. Period.
I’m hoping we hire Washington and he wants to be here , not just for the money,
But if not, I’d rather have someone else.
If indeed, Coach Washington is conflicted by wanting to stay with tOSU versus taking the money/job at UT - I hope DW has the good sense to withdraw the offer. Before entering into any compensation package negotiation for employment the prospective new hire needs to be certain that he/she/pronoun neuter/dog/bird/plane/et cetera is willing to take the job if the prospective employer meets the demand. There should be no delay in signing (except for producing legal documents) once that is met if the person/dog/bird/plane/ et cetera is dealing in good faith.
Or,
All the talk about what is going on may be unverified, speculative chatter - as usual.
