Maybe it's the NCAA sanctions coming our way that's holding us back right now with these perspective hires
I do think that is playing a huge part. I do agree with some of the posters saying that if we can get the right nucleus from the start we can make this a very desirable job again. I also mean that from a coordinator and position coach standpoint as well. The best thing that could happen is that we start getting our coaches poached again because we are good and we have an admin that people will go out of their way to work for.

If this is true, then OSU is gonna have to bump every other position coach up costing "mucho dinero" , or else there's gonna be some serious division in that program.

Washington was the 3rd lowest paid on that staff. At least 5 make a minimum of $618k, and 3 make over a million.

Yea on the front end yea I agree. It’s the added “Skeltons” that AV and his other enemies of the program had to point the investigators toward to finish off the job when the initial info wasn’t going to get fulmer and Pruitt out

I don't know how or who was involved in the investigation, so won't speculate. To me it's irrelevant anyway, in no world do I blame anyone but those guilty.

Mannnn you’re so right.
It was comical to hear people saying he was “average” super bowl.
his stats were average. He played his ass off!
There’s a huge difference. He kept at least 30 plays alive that should have been sacks
and had two amazing efforts dropped that should have been touchdowns .

That young man is the GOODS!
I'd take him over Brady any day lol. Brady and just about any other QB would have shriveled up and died if he had to deal with what mahomes had to suffer through Sunday night. Kid is amazing, and still made no excuses after.

If Josh Heupel runs the offense the way he wants to run the offense, we are going to be like 60th at best in TOP.

I know everyone wants to cut their wrist with the "We are Tennessee, woe is me" stuff. But that is going to be a tough sell for a young up and coming coach who wants to be a HC some day.

An outstanding defense for us next year is 25-40 in scoring defense. That isn't a great stepping stone for the next job.

Now, if we had a veteran DC already on staff who was a good recruiter, always coached good defenses in the SEC, and had no prospects for a HC job in the near future, that would be ideal. Unfortunately, that would be too perfect and we could never expect to find ourselves in that situation.
Or people hiring coaches are a lot smarter than us and look at the situation a DC is at and evaluate him from that.
And would realize 25-40 in “fastbreak style “ offense isn’t too shabby

You’re talking to yourself again, Pops.

I can't see whoever he is talking to either. It's like...

I'm guessing it is something like this:

Pros:
- $$$$$
- ...

Cons:
- NCAA investigation
- Difficult offensive system to have successful defense
- Fans have lost their minds (vol twitter, volnation [football forum, mind you], case in point)
- HC with limited experience
- Move the family

Pros:
- $$$$$$$$

Pros:
-Money
-DC play caller now that could accelerate my window to be a HC quicker
-Iconic Brand that under normal circumstances is easy to recruit to nationally.
-A top AD and a HC that understands yards will be given up and green light me to call aggressive gameplan

Cons:
-NCAA cloud, will it affect my ability to recruit who I want despite the iconic brand
-current roster has taken some hits in portal, how does rest of it look.
- Hometown - Family
- safer and more comfortable to stay vs risk and trust in my ability

I’d say if we didn’t have a ncaa cloud the decision would have been a lot easier not only for him but others

LOL, like people hiring coaches around here have been smarter than anyone lately.

I’ve noticed, over my many years, that in these type of go or don’t go situations that it it is a tug of war Between your head and your heart.
The head says to go to the new opportunity and take the bigger paycheck and new challenge.
The heart says to stay with the comfort of the status quo and with those friends you know.
The tiebreaker is usually what? What the wife wants.

Surprised we haven't had official confirmation yet. If he's really wanting to stay at OSU so badly, would seem like an easy decision.
