Barnes and UT owns Cal and UK again

I’m good man. Just glad Barnes finally let the freshmen play ball

So you wish instead of bringing them along at the correct pace you think that they should have been thrown into the fire from day 1? Get their confidence destroyed before they were acclimated? Have them be beat all to hell at this point of the season? Or is it better to have them hitting their stride as TN gets into the stretch run?

Do you even realize that Keon sat out last year with a serious injury? Do you know that Springer has been battling injury for nearly a month?

Had Barnes not taken the reins off of Keon and our offense, this would have been an L. After watching this game, it’s obvious the only thing that has been holding this team back is the coach. Ive been wondering the last few weeks why we were playing such a methodical slow paced 1/2 court offense. You saw tonight that’s not where Keon and Springer can best utilize their talents.

Your Barnes dislike is blinding you. Watch the first half again and figure out what the Vols were trying to do but were obstructed from doing by the wacky officiating. The reins were never on. The horses just weren't running or they couldn't run. Barnes challenged the refs at the half and stayed the course for the win despite the almost absence of Fulkerson. Would you be more objective if Barnes was underpaid? Come on. He owns Kentucky.

Clueless.

By watching the game thread you would think UT lost by 20. I wish some "fans" would lose their internet connection.

It did feel like it in the first half. Catching fouls for jogging too fast and Kentucky hitting all their FTs. And also got hot from behind the arc.

It’s a testament to this team they were able to stay in the game.

Bwaa-ha-ha! It's not always coaching like it's been in football for 15 years. Listen to Springer's quote that it finally clicked with Keon and him on, how/when to run the break, tonight. Sounds more like freshmen learning how to run Barnes team, properly, to me. Kinda like when Bone finally figured it out, sorry if UTs 5 star freshmen are taking a little longer. I don't know about you, but I'm happy with their development and this team's potential, when it counts, like u say, in March

There’s a reason why Barnes make $5 million and why you sit on a message board criticizing 20 year olds.

Always great to spank the Cats at Rupp. Now let's carry this over and even the score with the Gators. It is always great to be a Tennessee Vol. GBO.

I feel like we turned a corner in the 2nd half tonight. We found an identity on offense and milked it. Of course, I had a renewed sense of optimism a week ago against Kansas and we followed that up with the worst performance of the season. So maybe I'm just setting myself again....

So, according to quotes by Springer and Johnson, they said they finally listened to Barnes. So, you’re saying the freshmen are lying?

I felt we were the better team from the tip, but was outraged with the one sided refereeing. Once the fouls and FTs began to even up the better team pulled in front.

Pretty much. If we lose that game, it's because we lost it, UK wouldn't have won it. I know that sounds like loser talk but UK really didn't play that well and their lead in the first half was thanks to a crap ton of bad ref calls.

I wasn’t surprised that there was a let down after a big win versus Kansas. Maybe not the greatest Kansas team, but they are still the 2nd winningest team in the NCAA and TN had only beaten them once before. Now we are primed to go on a roll. Wade and White will lose sleep worrying about stopping Keon AND Jaden. It was a lot less challenging when opponents only needed to scheme for one of them.

So all these guys whining about Barnes being overpaid, then they must think Cal is the most overpaid dude in the sport huh? Only 1 NC almost a decade ago at the Alabama of college basketball.

Tennessee is now 8-5 vs Kentucky under Rick Barnes, with 3 wins in Rupp Arena.

A breakdown since Barnes first season in 2015-2016:

In Knoxville: Tennessee leads the series 4-1
In Lexington: The series is tied 3-3
In the SEC Tournament (St. Louis and Nashville): The series is tied 1-1

AWESOME.
During the post-game, they stated that TN has only won 7 games at Rupp Arena all-time and Barnes has 3 of those wins.

If I counted correctly, TN’s record at Rupp Arena is now 7-38. As you stated, TN is 8-5 against KY since Barnes has been coaching.

Might be 7-39. TN lost to KY 101-40 at Rupp in the 1993 SEC Tournament. First meeting was in 1977.
