Didn't Hyams, who essentially is the mouth piece for the university, break that news? Also where was it said that the news leaking was why he got cold feet?
Just from media talking about it.... saying that it got leaked out by yuans before Brohm wanted it too.... he changed his mind and stayed at Purdue.

He called my little middle of nowhere tiny west TN high school as well. Very surprised. Seems like he's trying to make connections all over the state.

High school football coaches by and large need more support. Everywhere. Talk about a job where the pay:bulls@#$ ratio is out of whack. I couldn't imagine to coordinate 40-50 teenage boys everyday for a few thousand dollars on top of crap pay.

No, my thinking is we won't hear anything today, but will announced Monday out of respect of a coach in the Super Bowl so he can focus on his task at hand. That's a good way to show your guy that you have his best interests at heart.

Damn son, ya think it's Kacy Rodgers?

You coach bc you love it.... not the money at that level.

It was rumored at the time that Brohm had asked for it to not be announced before a specific time so he could address some things first. Jimmy broke it early and Brohm called it off. Obviously everything we hear is second and third hand, but that was the story. My point stands regardless. Coaches don't want to work for clown shows and our AD looked like a clown show. Love him or hate him, but I don't get the sense that DW runs a clown show.

The difference was, Butch had the leverage. He made it clear he would file suit if he didn't get his full buyout. There were things about the Title IX investigation that didn't need to come out. Sometimes, the prudent strategy is to pay people to go away quietly.

Butch flaunting his low-paid position at Bama was no coincidence; neither was his taking another HC job when his UT buyout payments ran out.
And for this reason, I have no goodwill for Butch. Kinder feelings for Dooley and even for Pruitt... both of whom were a bit of jerks, but still

I don't equate decisions or coaching hires leaking with "dysfunction."

We haven't been bad for a decade because we know the inner workings - we've been bad for a decade because we hire bad coaches. That's dysfunction.
it's all a symptom of the same disease. you get the coaching leaks because you get all the other leaks....be it the pay cuts, or any of the "put ut in a bad light" stories that have come out over the years. it's funny to hear AP or Hubbs, or anyone in the media really, talk about how it's just been a known, and accepted, that "someone is always willing to talk at Tennessee"....

that's the problem.

it just boils down to what the standards are. we all say it all the time "this doesn't happen at places like ...fill in the blank program..."

and it doesn't. anyway...as a one off, you're correct. THAT is not dysfunction. however, it's not a one off here, it's just another part of the equation here that sums up to "dysfunction".....
