wait, we sucked?Of course you are. good grief cat get a new shtick. This one is old and tired.
In 2020 UCF QB's were sacked 22 times on 415 drop backs.
By comparison, Our QB's were sacked 29 times on 285 pass attempts.
A better comparison, Bama with the best OL in college football, their QB was sacked 19 times on 425 attempts. That's almost identical
In 2020 they played 4 OT's against OU and lost the game so I'm pretty sure some scoring against them happened. They played 2 OT games in 2020, both of which ended in the first OT.
And they gave up 0 points total in OT this year.
In 2020 they played 4 OT's against OU and lost the game so I'm pretty sure some scoring against them happened.
Also worth pointing out that the 2019 Texas defense's best game all season was against a very good Utah team in the bowl game after Todd Orlando got fired. They only gave up 10 points in that game.
I don't know how the 2019 team finished out relative to the program's histoy, but in late October they were on pace to be the worst in school history, which is why I used the phrase "bottomed out."
Patience is the only cure for Texas' historically bad defense
I think CRB purposely slows the team down so they have to develop a half-court offense. I think he'll open it up and let them run as we get closer to March.
InterestingI like to look at Sack Percentage for this type of thing because offenses can vary so much and effect total sacks.
UCF on Sacks Allowed
2018: 5.16% (31st)
2019: 5.42% (46th)
2020: 4.82% (35th)
For references during that time period
UT
2018: 6.95% (75th)
2019: 5.80% (57th)
2020: 9.24% (115th)
Florida
2018: 5.16% (30th)
2019: 5.18% (41st)
2020: 4.06% (21st)
Bama’s class is absolutely ridiculous.
Saban really needs to retire already.
