Back in the day there use to be a club in the boro called “inferno bar” and ole young Scott and the fellas would crash the joint with fake ids. Anyhow one night I came out and was walking across the parking lot when I walked up on a new Escalade... with spinners. This was when spinners first came out and everyone was crazy over it. So I reached down, licked my finger and gave em everything I had. Instantly the door opened and that giant m’fer Albert Haynesworth stepped out with a scowl. Man I thought that was it, luckily I recognized him and went fan boy and we talked UT ball for a few minutes and he was cool. But damn that was terrifying. Cool story, I know.

I turned the corner around a building on campus and walked my face into the bicep of John Henderson, almost fell down and just looked up apologizing profusely. He looked real angry at first, then laughed and then said “nah, my bad man”.

It was a less than 5 second interaction for me and I still shudder slightly every time someone posts the gif of him getting slapped in the face as a warmup routine. Guess that might be slightly similar to you if anyone brings up Al stomping on a dude’s face.

Unlike some of the unfortunate things that have come out about Al during and since his playing days, I don’t know of anything about JH that would give me reason to think he was likely to snap but that gif still reminds me of that day from 20+ years ago.
