The national writers have always seemed weirdly, annoyingly convinced that Franklin did nothing personally wrong in the Vandy rape case. I mean, maybe they're right? I know that I did not spend any time at all actually looking at the evidence before assuming he was guilty as hell so maybe he's not?

Freeze was never going to be on the table with the NCAA situation. And the scuttlebutt with Kiffin for years has been that A) he'd love to come back to Knoxville and try it again but B) his behavior while he was here had burned too many bridges for that to happen. I don't know, maybe Big Jim Haslam has to die first or something.

I've grown okay with Heupel. It just seems like a lamer hire than it is because he already worked for White at G5 school. I.e, it smells a little too much like Butch crowing about "The Best Staff In America" and then just bringing all his guys from UC. But when you step back I don't think this is on paper a worse hire than Auburn just made, and Auburn's program is not a tire fire with an impending NCAA hammer. Don't F up the DC position and it could work because we're gonna score a s***load of points.
