Too many unknowns.

This isn’t the right time to be learning on the job.
50% of coaches in the top 20 right now are 1st time HC's. I don't think previous success as a HC is as good of an indicator of future success as some would like to believe. I would like Nick Saban as much as the next guy or even a guy like Franklin or Campbell, but if DW who hasn't missed yet, thinks TE is the guy then I'm good with that.

This is not me saying a man's skin color should be a consideration during a coaching search, and I want to stress that as such.

However, it would be nice for the school that had the first black QB in the SEC to continue the tradition by employing the only current black head coach in the conference. He would be only the 6th black head coach in SEC history.

Again, this is not me virtue signaling or whatever, but I'd be happy for Tennessee to continue its' role in progressing the sport and I think it would be valuable for us in the national media and on the recruiting trail. Good publicity can work for you.

Agree. It shouldn't be the primary factor in the decision, but definitely doesn't hurt and will earn us some good will nationally.

I'm trying to think of the previous five. Sylvester Croom, James Franklin, Kevin Sumlin . . . who else?

I still don't think there's much validity in anything we're hearing. I think DW is running a textbook search process and unlike his predecessors, he's got a plan, is executing it and he's definitely not working his way down a list one by one with a blank contract. We'll know when we know. Until then, beware of chasing the latest rumor..
