The last 12 years of UT football is all the evidence you need. We could have hired a TE caliber coach every coaching search since PF was fired. Hell, we did with JP. None of them worked.

Big boy football programs hire big boy football coaches. We're not coming back till we make that happen.

Who is a “big boy hire”

Frost, harbaugh, and Herman, we’re all considered “big boy” hires and none of have really worked. So who is this “big boy”

I think the hate for Elliot is out of control. You can be hesitant that he isn't a head coach, but literally everything else about him screams that he would be a great hire and HC. In an ideal world, TN would be hiring literally whoever they wanted. We are not in an ideal world for UT, and I would venture to say we're at a lower point than ever aside from having a proven AD at the helm

Then the insiders, media types, and admin (Boyd & Plowman) need to stop talking out of their ass and providing false hope. Don't say "we're hiring a proven winner and this isn't the place to learn on the job" just to turn around and hire a coordinator.

There is a long history of star coordinators that don’t pan out as HC, especially in their first gig. It’s absolutely possible- but it’s a long shot- especially here.

i mean, sure, you're right. but there's a long list that have panned out...

there's no formula. DW has to find the right fit, period....hopefully he gets it right. his track record suggests he stands a good shot at it.

so we'll see.

This is the same argument that was made against Jeremy Pruitt when he was hired. Only this time it’s on the offensive side of the ball.

Elliot has never had to rebuild a program from the ground up, especially with the NCAA hanging over his head. He’s not going to have an elite coach beside him running the team.

You can’t base his success off Clemson.

And you can't base his failure off Pruitt.

We have a bad ass AD...I mean one of the most impressive guys I have EVER been around. He is getting this right I promise you that.

And another thing...this stuff about whales and authority to offer this and that to two whales is BS. DW has been given a damn centurion card to hire whoever he wishes at whatever cost he sees fit....i have said it 100 times but some folks just can’t understand. Money is not and will not be an issue moving forward with this program.

In other words...prepare to be underwhelmed once again.

Remember how excited everyone was when Pruitt took the offense back under center?

Hope y'all can rekindle that excitement if it's Fisher . He was fired not once but twice for refusing to take his offense into the 21st century.
