Prediction: no matter who we hire, we still will finish behind UGA, Bama, and FL in recruiting rankings pretty much every year.

We used to be #1 in the country every year even when Florida was beating us on the field. It would take a while but that can happen again.

Why does Saban let his assistants come and go and never really fights hard to keep them?
Why did Dabo get Clemson to pay both of his coordinators almost 2 mil?

This is the 2020 SOS rankings from Sports Betting Dime. I found it because it was a topic of discussion on the Clemson message board. These are the rankings for some of the teams of apparent interest in this thread, or more accurately, the coaches from those teams. (2020 records in parenthesis). [Brackets are the years the coach has been at that school].

Elliott is making 1.8 as an OC it would probably take big money to get him and hopefully beyond hope he can bring Venables with him.

I just saw Napier was added to the board of the AFCA Board of Trustees. Cutcliffe is a Vice President of that board. Cutcliffe recommended to Peyton to find someone like Kevin White and we hired his son. Probably would go a long way with NCAA to have the White Family leading AD and a member of the AFCA board of trustees as HC. Hard to death penalty that duo.

Since the AD press conference yesterday, we've heard some rumblings about Kiffin, Campbell, and now Elliot.

Gosh, I hope this search doesn't go too long into next week because we'll be up to 20 or 30 names if this pace is kept up.

Hell, that's just Childs play. Wait for the announcement and watch the sh^t hit the fan if it's not Kiffin

I think kiffin is much more of a risk than Elliot. When has he actually shown to be a great head coach?

Kiffin was too.young when he started his career, but still wins. He is one of the best play callers on offense. I would assume he has learned A LOT in the years since he left us.

He has a lot of energy, kids love him, good recruiter, great play callers. Exciting to watch. Pair this with great resources and I think he gets it done.

Elliot has never been HC and the question is can he handle all the responsibilities?

In my opinion, I feel this program needs someone who has showcased they can take a roster filled with pieces that don’t quite fit, and make lemons out of lemonade. This roster is not Clemson. It is not Alabama. It has a myriad of pieces that could potentially be something special but it’s going to require a guy who can squeeze every last drop out of them.

Elliot has been an impressive coordinator, but he is working with premiere talent that does not need the push that our roster needs. He might have a great scheme, but I question if that translates with the severe drop in talent he will experience the first 2-3 years here.

Maybe it will. Maybe it won’t. I’d prefer not to find out.

There's validity to the idea.

Whoever the guy is (if he ends up being "the guy") will have to find some success with what he has to work with early on.

The first couple or 3 years are about not letting it unravel and showing the consistent signs. The current roster can't win the east or even compete for it right now. But it can be a foundation to landing the type players you need to do that.
