Somebody give me a modern example of a coordinator who walked into a similar situation as us and brought them back into a national contender.
I think that's why I don't want Elliott the most. As if the complaining isn't bad enough when we lose. Now we will have an entire woke contingency calling those people racists every two seconds. How are they different. Brady has done nothing outside of having a great year at LsU with literally the best offensive football cast ever assembled in college football. Elliots resume and background is far more impressive than Brady’s and people would love Joe Brady. Maybe it’s a color issue???,![]()
In my opinion, I feel this program needs someone who has showcased they can take a roster filled with pieces that don’t quite fit, and make lemons out of lemonade. This roster is not Clemson. It is not Alabama. It has a myriad of pieces that could potentially be something special but it’s going to require a guy who can squeeze every last drop out of them.
Elliot has been an impressive coordinator, but he is working with premiere talent that does not need the push that our roster needs. He might have a great scheme, but I question if that translates with the severe drop in talent he will experience the first 2-3 years here.
Maybe it will. Maybe it won’t. I’d prefer not to find out.
Bama was not nationally relevant before Saban. Neither was OSU. Penn state was coming off worst scandal in CFB history. Give me the coordinator example. Go ahead. Waiting on it.What????? Hahah. When was either 3 of those programs ever not nationally relevant and anywhere comparable to us. You also listed the best 2 college coaches in history and a guy who pen state has wanted to fire multiple times lol
In my opinion, Kiffin is not a good head coach. He's a great OC but his teams have terrible defenses. A great coach should not have terrible defenses. Someday, he may wake up and hire someone to run the defensive side of the ball but until he does that, he's just a great OC that happens to be the head man.
Penn State was arguably in worse shape than us. Bama was going through the most mediocre era of their existence. What????? Hahah. When was either 3 of those programs ever not nationally relevant and anywhere comparable to us. I like Steele ok as a dc as a head coach he’s tier 10 on that list.To me everything is in tiers. If you can’t get a guy in the tier above then you move to the next.
Tier 1 -
Kiffin, Campbell, Fickell, Peterson, Fleck, Whittingham
Tier 2 -
Herman, Freeze (only due to perceived baggage), Chadwell, Napier, Elliot
Tier 3 -
Steele
I never said he was a better anything. I just wanted to see if you’d stop tippy toeing around what you really meant. I’m a Saints fan and I like Brady based off of that and learning offense from SP. I have absolutely no issues with Elliot other than he’s never been a coach. But don’t over hype a guy or under hype one based on race, that’s not fair. Then explain to me how joe Brady is that much better of a candidate than Elliot? Because his resume certainly doesn’t back it up.
