i would LOVE a elliot hire. Clemson playcaller for years, knows how a successful program is run, and Clemson has fantastic culture. He also has a degree in industrial engineering, and isn't a f@#$ing idiot like our former head coach

How many of you were logged on VN the night Kiffin bolted? Man what a wild time that was. I think the board crashed within minutes. My brain doesn’t have the capacity to even begin processing the thought of Kiffin coming back. Hiring him would be VERY polarizing but no matter which side you fall on, it will be extremely personal to every Vol fan. Maybe a chance to heal a deep wound and close out a long dark chapter of Vol history. Sign me up.

I was just sharing what Brice wrote about. I don’t think it'll be Elliott, or any coordinator. Just more proof most of the media don’t have a clue this week.

It is interesting though that we aren't really hearing anything about any black candidates. There weren't really any black candidates discussed for South Carolina, Auburn, Texas, etc. either. Next season will likely be the first season in a long time in which there isn't a single black head coach in the SEC.

Thats what I dont get. He wasn't good enough to hire for UCF, but now he's good enough for a HC job here. WE CANT GO THE COORDINATOR ROUTE!!!!! This isn't a tryout job. Especially If we have $7 million + to pay. With what AV said Im not worried about hiring a coordinator, though. Just a weird name to be thrown out there.

I dont think that it was that he wasn't good enough. He had only been the OC for 3 seasons at the time, and now has another 3 years under his belt. He has been in the playoff all 6 seasons as OC and has killed it in Atlanta and Florida for Clemson. He can also sell that he has had two 1st rd QBs and maybe a 3rd coming up in Uiagalelei.

Yeah I’m just not excited for a coordinator hire unless a bunch of other guys say no first.

I just don't see them doing that again anytime soon. I think Pruitt killed that for a lot of assistant coaches.

First: no way it gets to the level of fever pitch as Gruden...no way. Period

Second: John Currie could have flat out said, "Gruden isn't coming", and most would have said, "SMOKESCREEN!!!".

Third: This isn't going to last long enough for it to build to that. Butch was fired on Nov 12, Schiano Sunday was Nov 26. That was 2 weeks for it to build and build and build and build; also, Gruden rumors started before Butch was even fired...hell, before he was even hired. I believe we have our new coach by Wed, at the latest.

But, I do believe Currie was laughing at us throughout.

Like most of you, I share the hesitance with Elliot simply because of the first time head coach thing. But White has shown an ability to pick the right candidates and has done well in the past to help a new head coach along.

I'm confident Elliot would recruit the state well.

He's recruited it well so far.... just sayin....

I'm guessing he would have to sell Elliot to Plowman and Boyd since it doesn't fit wit their criteria of a sitting head coach. Is Clemson's success on offense related to tons of top rated talent usually playing teams with significantly LESS talent or because of the schemes Elliot has put in place? Also...for the last 4 years he has been CO offensive coordinator. 15-19 that is. This year was first year he was sole OC.

Yeah, he called the plays though. Scott left for USF job so he became sole OC.

Brice’s latest football scoop article focuses on Elliott. Saying White almost hired him at UCF before going with Heupel.

I don't think you can take much from the previous UCF search and place it here. UT is a much bigger, better, high profile job than UCF. Even with NCAA looming. Plus all the talk of a sitting HC

Although Brice didn’t mention him as a candidate, I find it interesting that with all the high powered offenses in college football he mentioned Kiffin and his offense being able to score quickly and regularly in the article.
Maybe I’m reading too deep into the article.

I think Elliott is a fall back option for White at this point. So if we have a deal in place as has been alluded to by several, it won't be him.

But this is a pretty good watch just in case.

Keep in mind when thinking about timeline, the first question in the AD interviews was certainly “who are you hiring to fix the football program?” White’s answer to that was surely a big factor in him getting the job.

David Shaw has won fewer than 8 games one time, last year (4-8). Besides that, he has won 9 or more games every single year except for 2014 (8-5). The two years prior to last year, by far his worst year, he was 9-5 and 9-4. Youre crazy if you think he has been "falling dramatically".

I can kind of understand why you would say that about Patterson; but, if you look at his record, he has usually bounced back after a couple of bad seasons.
