Recruiting Forum Football Talk III

TN has to be the only P5 school that seems to constantly have a handful of winning coaches wanting the job (for the right price). But repeatedly snubs them in favor of Doug - the equipment manager of Holynokes Community College.

But I'm sure it'll be different..this time.

Made me choke on my coffee. lol

One name I haven’t heard fans talk about that I think is getting some talk via the search firm: Ryan Silverfield.

Lol why would we hire a guy who turned a 12-2 team into a 8-3 team and that’s his only HC experience?

I’m not saying we’re getting someone good bc this is UT and that’s not how we roll but I’d legit rather roll with Steele than Ryan Silverfield

Well... I mean he went 1-9 as a high school HC in 04' lmao

His offense has 3 schemes. Triple, spread, rpo. He adjusts on the fly depending on what the defense is defending. That’s innovative. It’s foolish to say it won’t work without trying it. It was t too long ago when we were saying the big 12 passing offenses won’t work in SEC. look at the conference now.

Glad somebody else is actually seeing what Chadwell does with the O. Like others have posted, so glad he did not end up as an opponent in the SEC.

I will never get why people think we have to do what better programs are already doing to beat them. Dumbest idea there is. Imitation is for losers, all you are doing is flattering the victors. Innovate. When you are not the leader in what you do you will be a loser in the SEC.

Since Freeze is out, in my book it is Kiffin first and Chadwell second. They innovate and inspire their players to do their best.

The day we hang 60 on Bama, we'll be staring back at 100.

There's zero reason for Lane Kiffin to leave an Ole Miss program with a stable AD, a decent staff, a full recruiting staff, and a healthy team
FOR
UT which is under NCAA investigation with likely multiple Level I violations meaning bowl and scholarship penalties, no Athletic Director, several key staff positions empty, an entire recruiting office fired, and multiple key players in the transfer portal.

Just tell me why UT looks better than Ole Miss today?

Let's say you open up the door to a long abandoned barn and find staring at you a dusty P-51 Mustang. The engine is in pieces, the wings are off, but everything is there. Yes, it needs lots of work, time, and money to get it in flyable condition, but you ask yourself...is that a better aircraft than the Cessna 172 I have at the airport?

Well, if I only want to go flying today, it's not. But...but...if I want a chance to fly something that is legendary, something very few people will ever get to control in person, something everyone will envy when it's done, then it's time to dedicate yourself to getting that old war horse back in the air.

There is risk, to be sure. It requires you selling the Cessna to finance the rebuild. No flying for you for awhile. You might find some issue inside that delays the project indefinitely. You might even go bankrupt trying to rebuild it and get it back in the air meaning someone else will inherit your hard work at the bankruptcy sale.

The choice is yours...is it worth it?

I'm gonna assume this is full on troll and a good one.

Yes, oh yes, you convince me. I can see it now: Lane Kiffin looking at Neyland and in his best George McFly voice saying: "You're my density!"

But....... outside of the movies, Kiffin would be an absolute fool to leave Ole Miss for UT.

Lane wants the job. I get that maybe some don’t think it’s a better situation but he desperately wants the Vols job. We can argue about better situation all day if we like. If he wants the job those arguments don’t matter. Which he absolutely wants it.

Chadwell is still my gut feeling, but we will see how things move along after the AD is hired.
Serious question, I've heard some say we look to hire an experienced coach at a power 5 level. If that is the case doesn't that rule him out?
