A stat Ben Sasse recently pointed out is that roughly 15% of Americans pay day-to-day attention to the stuff we argue about here. Which means 85% don't. That's something to keep in mind when discussing how divided the country really is.Not much, but because politics isn't 24/7 it doesn't mean a reduction in dislike when it does come down to politics. Despite luther's thoughts this just mean people go from offense to defense or the reverse depending on how you define offense and defense. To be honest I make it a point not to initiate politics in any discussion except here, but that doesn't mean capitulation by any stretch of the imagination or that I chose friends on the basis of political viewpoint. Politics is just one thing I don't consider fit for polite conversation.
You all chose to lose your minds over Trump. The MSM and Dems gave him the platform because they literally couldn’t help themselves. You could’ve ignored him but Dems and MSM are every bit as divisive as they claim Trump to be.Which puts him so far ahead of Trump.
A return to the days of indifference is part of the healing process.

Trump was a divider from the first day of his campaign. It was his strategy and his ticket to victory....that's what sux.You all chose to lose your minds over Trump. I agree, but the traditional GOP died and the current party simply rolls over for the dims if they can even get elected on a platform of fiscal responsibility. It seems like now the only semblance of fiscal responsibility and reduction in government growth is deadlock.
A few of the things aimed at me by D politicians and media thru the years:Which puts him so far ahead of Trump.

The extremes are pulling on the middle in too many ways. The far left wants too much attention paid the ultra poor, the establishment right too much to the wealthiest.
This is the awakening. This lessens the divide........What you call a divide I call an awakening.
I looked at it this morning after someone linked Biden's 17 things. The Keystone Pipeline EA will hurt working Americans and do nothing to impact climate change.
A few of the things aimed at me by D politicians and media thru the years:
"Racist"
"Bigot"
"Homophobe"
"Deplorable"
"Heartless"
"Greedy"
"Uncompassionate"
"Science denier"
"Bitter-clinger"
"Privileged"
"Nazi"
Biden inaugurated:
"We need healing and unity"! Signed, democrats.
Forgive me if I don't fall all over myself in a rush to accept the olive branch.
How many “barrier breaking” repubs are on that list? Sooooo inclusive except conservativesThis is the awakening. This lessens the divide........
Vice President Kamala Harris formally swore in three new, barrier-breaking Democratic senators on Wednesday afternoon following her own inauguration.
The swearing-in of the three new senators was groundbreaking. Warnock and Ossoff are respectively the first Black and first Jewish senators representing Georgia, while Padilla is California's first Latino senator.
Does "bigot" cover "anti Muslim" or should I add that to the epithets list specifically? Not surprisingly in her first press conference the new press secretary called the Travel Ban "the Muslim Ban". Not only is that inaccurate both in name and reality, it is using the language that was used to demonize the policy and those who supported it.
There is no interest in unity from this administration. It's been demonstrated both in the speech today, the EAs and the first official press conference.
I looked at it this morning after someone linked Biden's 17 things.
It's been in the works since 2008. Obama vetoed Congress giving the permit so the executive office could.
Biden wants to reduce carbon emissions. By halting the pipeline all the Alberta sand crude will be trucked and shipped to refineries. Seems to me those who want less emissions would be pro pipeline.
