Now?
No. Thats not new.
2 of the 4 last coaches hired had losing records when we hired them. One of the other 2 had no record at all.

So, no. Ignoring previous win/loss records isn't a new idea.

The next question that is yet to be determined.
How is the list affected when or if the AA hands down stiff penalties for the next guy to deal with? We haven't had that issue with the last 4 hires?

Buckle up.

Well, having a losing record is one thing. Hiring a guy who has one of the worst W/L records in CFB coaching history is something else entirely.

Basilio said Kiffin has reached out wanting to come back
I have been against Kiffin coming back and am very critical of his defenses, they have been terrible. At this point, I would gladly take him back based on our current situation. If he is willing to weather the storm of Bowl bans, scholarship reductions, and multiple players currently on our roster being ruled ineligible by the NCAA then let's ride.

This makes no sense. The kid went out and played because his number was called. He took every opportunity he was given. Let's not sit here and say none of us wouldn't. The coaches/AD did this to themselves.
Boo hoo...it's the SEC and criticism of play come with the territory. Yeah the coaches are responsible for the recruiting violations, but anyone who argues that JG had no part in the downfall of Pruitt and Butch didn't watch the games. He was the qb for 3 of the worst seasons in Vol history. Not finding his replacement was Pruitt's biggest violation.

“I think conducting a thorough internal investigation and then taking decisive action when you found evidence of wrongdoing will play very well with the NCAA. I don’t know that they will come out completely unscathed but I think it will really help them when it comes to penalties. JMO”

Apparently we re getting worse at hiring coaches and the AA may make it a little harder..
So maybe he's next on list.

That would be a good start for whoever comes in

Just dug this gem up from December 2017:

“Honestly, Pruitt is a C hire. Good recrruiter, but no guarantee he can bring in a top staff. Has potential off the field problems. Hard to get along with. Carries a high risk of NCAA issues. May struggle on O without a top notch OC.”

Have to say, I got pretty close.

Seriously your screen name is Lane Train and you have been against Kiffin coming back?!? I’m cracking up now, every time I have seen your name I just think, they must really love Kiffin. 🤣

as well it should, the NCAA should hammer coaches, but it’s always seemed backwards to punish the student athletes and institutions but let coaches go cash other big paychecks.

But NCAA gonna NCAA.

My question is; and, Hank, you may be able to answer this: what Pruitt was doing, does it go on at other universities? I know they all cheat, and cheat big; but, what Pruitt was doing, was it something different, or just sloppy?

If it's the same things that go on everywhere, do you truly think "this was coming regardless", if we had went 8-2 or better?
Yes i do. This was coming because of the way Pruitt treated the people who are put in place to protect the players, coaches, and universities. Compliance and the academic people both were subject to torment from Pruitt for simply trying to keep him from getting in trouble because the word was out on him and his recruiting... other schools were talking and coaches that left him were talking.

Incorrect terminoligy on my part. Smart coaching minimzies liabilites and maximizes strengths. JG could not see the whole field, but cut the field in half and baddabing badda boom. Not ideal but at that point I said to myself,,,that Lane knows what he is doing with with what he has to work with.

This. Kiffin figured out what worked and didn’t with crompton and created plays and an offense that worked for crompton.
that’s good coaching.
JG was bad at what they asked him to do as a sophomore and they kept asking him to do it even though he never got any better.
