Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2025-26

I think we could see a lot of players in the transfer portal including our team. Players that are not getting to play and top freshmen coming in to certain schools making that roster deeper and better shoves some players further down the bench and even more pine time. I think the portal will be loaded and a place where a lot of teams can immediately get better quickly. Also a lot of players that need to move down a level not talented enough to play a lot at the top level conferences.

Hoping our core players stick around. They seem to enjoy playing for Kellie and she definitely has a visible rapport with them that we never saw with Holly.

Could see some of the reserves maybe going elsewhere.

it’s not that unbelieavable UK had 8 available players due to injury or COVID protocol... It was a close game and Patterson fouled out in the 4th so that was another perimeter player missing at some point
No, I get why Kyra had to play her so long. I meant for Treasure psychologically to go from 0 minutes in the last 4 games or so to playing 35 minutes all of a sudden.

oh yea... i was just saying perfect opportunity and she got matched up with Koi Love which was a good experience from a defensive stand point in what guarding in the SEC is like 😃

They have come to Nikki’s rescue on social media so i don’t know. Maybe Jackson transfers to another school she looks frustrated to me and i would think one of their guards as they are super guard heavy

UK i don’t know who would transfer... Bfore i might have said Hunt but i think she will stay. The thing for me is the extra year and i think Mckinney and their other senior Wyatt come back. Patterson i dunno if she uses her last year to play somewhere else or with a weaker WNBA draft takes her shot at going pro.
If Nikki doesn't get MSST playing at a high level and soon, Rickea would be stupid to stick around and waste her time. She looks like she regressed from her SEC level last year. Even if MSST gets it together, I agree that they are too guard heavy and have more coming in next year. Mingo-Young has to become more of a scorer...otherwise, I can see her getting buried on the bench if Hayes sticks around. Matharu and Taylor have been solid. Cooks has been a bust and should be on the bench. Not sure why Nikki doesn't start the big center to go along with Carter at PF.

Roach and Toller are probably candidates for guard transfers. I can't see the core guard rotation of Green, Hunt, Massengill or Benton transferring. If Rhyne leaves as one of the UK posters was speculating, all bets are off...

Can't see why Burrell, Horston or Suarez would leave at this point. Same with Key, unless it's a non-team related thing.

Wouldn't be surprised to see any one on the bench leave. They've all been recruited over with better talent, and will be fighting for minutes next season.

Defensively, she failed

She seemed to do other good things though. Didn't shoot well, but she hustled. There's no denying that she has talent, and will probably be the face of UK basketball once Rhyne leaves.

I was talking about reserves and I think that is where most of the transfers on most teams will come from. Starters usually only leave when they have a problem with the coach. There will be some on many teams I really don't see that with our team.

That’s where I’m thinking as well. Tess is a Tennessee girl and could provide some minutes to knock down 3s but she’s not really an SEC caliber player. Rennie is the one I wonder about most. She seems to have regressed from last year and isn’t shooting the ball anymore.

Haha i think Love put their whole team in the blender ... Horston would be a nice defensive match up on her but she does so many other things for this team as well.

I think Emily will stay too because she loves TN and grew up a TN fan. i think Tess/Rennie would be the most likely to leave.

Assuming that Salary stays, I see no opportunity for Tess or Jessie to get PT next season. Horston, Burrell, Wynn, Salary and maybe Suarez/Puckett will have the 80 minutes locked up but good for the 2/3.

I guess it depends if they are more interested in playing vs. being a LV. No right or wrong answer, but if they want to play...it won't be happening at Tennessee.

Correct. I think having some of those players around is great for team chemistry though. If they’re truly confident in being part of something bigger than themselves. Would love to see them all stick together. Can always see people wanting more playing time though. Nothing wrong with that.

SC hopes to exact some revenge tonight on the last SEC team that beat them. Arky and SC love to run and it should be a fun game to watch. Just got a look at Aja's statue which is impressive. Didn't realize it was paid for by contributions from Dawn and Darius Rucker.

hope Arkansas wins.....is Ramirez back?

Yes. She only missed that A&M game and then played 34 minutes against Florida. Thought she might have a sore knee. Now I’m thinking that may have been a disciplinary issue. Seems weird she missed just the one game but played normal minutes in the one before/after.

But remember better talent on paper, Suarez will get her shot to get in better shape i see her as a stater next season. Also some posters need to slow there roll on Puckett and Striplin. Yes they are good players on the HS level in there state. But we also need to look at the players that are already in the SEC and the ones coming in to so let`s have a wait and see on approach on the two. Look at Key she was very raw coming out of HS but with a lot of talent. And it has been very hard for her to adjust to SEC play but she now is starting to come around. Emily will stay i think ? Tess i don`t see her staying also Rennie.

I'm on the same page with you regarding Sara/Karolin. If Keyen doesn't come back, I can see Karolin taking over for KK as backup to Key. I think Sara will get PT at both forwards spot, but think it will take her time to adjust to college. Same with Wynn at the 2/3. I just don't see ways that Tess/Rennie will play. Even if the freshmen take time to develop, they will still be better players than those two.

Totally agree on posters chilling on Striplin & Puckett. Sure they are destroying the "Alabama" high school team but that competition is NOWHERE near close to the SEC. To much hype & pressure being put on some players who will obviously have a transitional adjustment .

Obviously speaking from your heart. On the basis of that comment it's apparent you have not watched much video on the lady. Also UConn has more than enough height to handle SC without Saylor. Have you met Aaliyah Edwards yet? There have been some changes since last year. Currently, though not against a stellar lineup, UConn leads the nation in 2 categories; Offensive field goal percentage (53%) and defensive field goal percentage (29%). I really think Boston is great but there is one weakness in her game, she can't pass the ball to herself.

Just an observation. UConn hasn’t faced a top 15 team yet nor has it faced a team with much height. ONO is only averaging 7 rpg and Edwards at 4rpg. I’ll know more after you all play UT Thursday but those are my early impressions.
