“The belief on campus is that Pruitt is done at Tennessee.“ - John Brice

Think my biggest problem with firing Pruitt at this point is that Fulmer is still the AD, and the AD is a bigger problem.

No chance we hire Freeze or Kiffin with Fulmer at AD. We'll likely get Kevin Steele. And while Steele is a good interim option, I'm not particularly excited about him as a permanent HC.

Maybe we get Jamey Chadwell. That's probably a best case scenario and even he's a pretty big risk given his limited track record.
Fulmer has got be considering his legacy st this point...everybody and his brother has said the football coaching hire would be how he’s graded.

He isn’t dangling in the wind except in our imaginations. An AD isn’t going to comment on a fictitious story created by fans. It reminds me of when many on here clamored for a statement from Gruden as if there was anything to comment on
So all the media attention is not damaging him or the university?

My concern, which it isn’t like it hasn’t happened before is what quality Coach would come after seeing how his predecessor was left out to dry by the university? We all have suffered the past 14 yrs. and it’s getting harder and harder to try to tell our kids what a proud program we had and we used to be relevant. Just an old man’s rant. GBO

After a 5-5 season, Lane got a big extension. I think it's $5mil to buy him out. He recently laughed at the notion of returning to UT. I don't think Lane would be in play no matter who the AD was

The only other theory I can come up with is Pruitt actually wants out, may have made a settlement on his buyout and is getting ready to head to Texas or somewhere as a DC and less stress. Its known that he and Steele are very good friends, maybe he is trying to convince Henry T to stay as Steele is ushered in as interim as a solid for his friend and/or trying to leave the team as intact as he can.
I’ve heard he wants out. So that would not shock me. He just wants to get the money settled and leave on good terms before becoming DC somewhere.

I read the entire article and did not see one thing new in it except that SC and Auburn had vetted Friend with NCAA. Everything else has been previously discussed here on VN.

So yesterday someone guarantees it was today. Today someone guarantees it's Tuesday, and now Sunday in this thread. This all after the other 50 guarantees. Eventually someone is gonna guess right, it'll likely be a year or two, but somebody is gonna get it right😂.

I'm officially throwing my "inside source guaranteed prediction" date out there- some time in the future!!

*if I'm right, and Pruitt is indeed fired "some time in the future", then I must be respected as an insider😂

Whatever happens, they need to do something about the person who leaked this to the media. This investigation process should have gone like Florida's...quiet and behind the scenes until it was settled. No chance for drama and rampant speculation. Once it gets out, the AD has zero chance to control the narrative to their benefit. So much more damage has been done to the program because of that. Whatever decision they make will probably be the same one they would've made if news of the investigation hadn't got out. A lot of this crap has been completely unnecessary.

True! As I’ve posted before, It’s understood @ most universities to keep things in house unless ther is some type of domestic abuse, theft, etc. I can’t recall who the writer was ( Hubbs or someone close to the program) but he said it was ridiculous how the local media is always chasing a story to harm UT to make a name for himself. Local media in Tuscaloosa would never do that to Saban and Bama. Like it or not, the city’s (of the university) economy flourishes when the university’s main sport is successful. John Adams was always trying to find dirt on Fulmer in the 90’s.

Isn’t Fulmers contract up next year?
