I wouldn’t say he “won” at ole miss. He had one great year which was followed up by a dud and then fired for cheating. i think he did a good job but some people are acting like he won 2 titles. In the same season after they beat bama they got beat 30-0 to Arkansas and then 42-3 to TCU.

Tell-tale sign of a fake insider is sharing too much and/or having knowledge of everything.

Think of the insiders we trust here (AV, Skeeter, Matt with the random numbers etc). What do we get from them? Drive bys. Why? Because in order be in a position to even have access to a lot of info - you have to have worked hard your entire life. Built trust. Built relationships. You really gonna risk all that because random message board users want questions answered?

Take for example this post.... this Bob guy is claiming to have knowledge on all of the following:

A. Pruitts stance on Steele
B. The fact that Tennessee vetted another coach
C. That vetted coaches stance on Steele
D. The language/verbage in Steeles contract

I do think there’s a chance Steele wouldn’t mind taking small role here at least to have a year to relax and weigh his options. Not like he’s needing the money. Chip Long basically did the same thing.

I'm sorry did I say that? No, I didn't but reality is when a coach gets involved with a job they start lining up a staff.


Steele is taking an off the field position with UT so who the hell knows what's going on but Fulmer should be fired for his mismanagement of this

I could see Steele being DC for Marrone, I just can’t see him working for a young whipper snapper like Chadwell.

Of course you could fire Freeze if he missteps. That’s not the issue. Say NCAA finds some stuff here. We fire everyone and get a slap on the wrist. You hire a guy with a history. Said guy repeats history. NCAA will be like you hired that person knowing that was a possibility. Next time won’t be so easy. NCAA drops hammer.

Alright this is it, find me one time an assistant coach has been hired for a head coach before the head coach has been hired, good Lord.

Heck at this point we are already there without the NCAA hitting us so what is difference between now and then. I think Freeze is completely worth the risk. We have all made mistakes and hope to leave the past in the past who is to say he hasn’t done the same. Everyone deserves a 2nd chance. And he has been clean at Liberty so I’m all on board with the risk of that’s what you want to call it

Exactly this...plus as someone mentioned, you get him for nothing since Auburn is paying his buyout. If you make him DC or HC from the beginning, then you’re probably paying some of that buyout money. At worse, you’re giving yourself some flexibility with a solid defensive coach, whether Pruitt is retained or fired.

Bartoo makes good point. In Twitter just now .. why is no college team trying to hire Marvin Lewis. He says college or NFL but I think Marvin would do really well as college HC. He is consulting for Arizona St defense this past year
