Any word of a staff meeting today? There’s a rumor floating around that one has been called for today.

Every staff in college football should be back on campus to meet, plan spring practice and recruit. Usually this is coach’s conference but it is cancelled due to Covid

Marrone hates to recruit.

If you can’t recruit in the SEC then you’re already behind the bigger programs.

eh. head coaches don't have to hit the road like the rest of the staff does.

i think everyone knows recruiting matters, especially in the SEC. they won't hire someone that "won't" recruit.

Give me a combination of Marion Hobby or Rodney Garner with a good DC. Give me Tom Myslinski. Let's ride.

Ron Middleton was also coaching under Marrone and coached under Cutcliffe at Duke. From Alabama and has SEC ties.

This. Steele could be the DC and also coach linebackers. Garner and Hobby could split DL duties. Recruiting along the defensive front would be close to elite.

How do you think players find new schools so quickly after they hit the portal? Players know which school their going too before transferring.

Tough day for all the people who say TB just gets info from this board, when the Kevin Steele stuff was in his blog last night. Didn’t see any indications this was happening from any other journalists/radio hosts.

I’ll never forget the day TBs show was on TSR. He took a call from some dude. Ainge and the station manager called in and lit him up for taking that call. Right after he left TSR. Never looked at Ainge the same after that.

But yea, I believe TB has good contacts.

Correct. Herm Edwards was hired by a confidant of his who just happened to be the AD at ASU.

Steele has the same setup as Butch did and is in a position to do something similar. He provides a lot of flexibility for UT. He's an experienced defensive mind who could wear multiple hats and help provide continuity for whatever. And yes, he could play many roles, depending on the outcome of the investigation. People get so locked into one idea while UT is looking at options.

So one of 2 things is happening imo....Steele is being hired to Pruitts staff, or Steele is being hired to replace Pruitt when he's fired later this week.
