Not in my opinion. Proving you can run a program is more valuable. He can always say he’d adapt his offense to the talent on the team. Only the super stubborn coaches out there never change and it usually leads to their downfall. Like Gustavo. Like Butch.
So proving you’re a winner as a HC improves your resumé more than proving your offensive scheme works in a specific conference.
Well, I'm not in total disagreement, but not total agreement either.
Not arguing about it or anything ... I agree with what you're saying about proving your worth as a HC at a smaller/lower school/classification, and there's no denying the value of that towards the resume.
But I also think that, especially where Chadwell is concerned, his system is what is so intriguing about hiring him. If you listen to the commentators in all CCU games, no matter the channel it's on, they all yammer on and on about this unique system that he runs. I also think that if you are an AD at a bigger school, his system, while intriguing, gives you a little pause because by and large, the option is antiquated. And while it's not straight up triple option like Barry Switzer or Tom Osbourne ran, it still implements principles from those systems. Therefore, seeing it work at an SEC level would undoubtedly boost his resume, because it would ease concerns some AD's might have.
So, obviously we're not gonna agree on this.
You've stated why you feel the way you do.
I've stated my case for what I think.
We'll just have to agree to disagree like gentlemen.
Not like this as so often seen on VolNation ...
