And it didn't seem to go as planned. :eek: Auriemma put Makarat in the game after the starters went 0 for everything in the first 5 minutes scoring 1 point on a free throw. The game plan was obvious and an over matched Providence defended it well.
A great game for Griffin 18 pts/9 rb/3 blk/2 stl.

It had nothing to with Providence defending anything well. It was 11 days between games and as every team does, a slow start.

What happened to Williams? Just an off game? Saw she was scoreless

She has a history of hot and cold. Today she played 14 minutes and didn't take a shot. I think, and it's just my guess, that Auriemma held her at least partly responsible for their miserable play early in the 1st Q. She sat early and then started the 2nd half and again was a complete non factor.

Today it was all Bueckers and Griffin and a little bit of ONO, who I think is under rated by a lot of fans, and Westbrook is looking better and better every game. I'm still waiting for her to face some competition, but so far Bueckers seems to be able to score whenever she wants. Today she was 8 for 10.

Collier on the bench for Texas. Picked up her third foul at about 2:00 remaining in the first quarter. West Virginia playing them very similar to how they played us. Fast pace, downhill getting to the line.

Wow WV is hammering Texas 👀 if they win this game WV will be knocking on the door of the top 25.

Doesn’t look like a middle of the road league team to me right now but ya know there is a still a half to play.

Collier has 3 fouls she is going to have to watch the aggressiveness in the 2nd half.

And Collier picks up her 4th halfway through the 3rd. Texas did not come to play today. West Virginia is beating them at their own game. Running a layup drill in transition and Texas just isn’t getting back. Vic is not going to be happy the next time they have practice.

Schaefer has to be pretty torqued. You expect your team to at least come out after the half and play with some effort. 28-9 in that quarter. They might as well have stayed on the plane.

Glad to see WV picking up a little bit. Really do think they’re a top 4 team in that league. This game will give them some confidence. They seem to play much better at home. Would really help us out if they finish the season strong. That OT loss become pretty insignificant if WV has a strong showing in their conference and cracks the top 25.

Collier calls it a night at the 6:25 mark of the 4th. Looked like her freshman season all over again tonight.

Officiating has been similar to our game. The bigs were not allowed much. Probably the same crew. Collier didn’t adjust one iota.
