I think that's where the problem lies, though. They're being called bargain because they haven't proved anything really when they're hired.

Hard to get more out of something that hasn't produced really anything to begin with.

That's clearly the problem-- hiring guys and expecting them to grow into the job while paying them like they've already done it.

UT has been unsuccessful in picking guys that can make the jump from where they were to where we need them to be. And that's a combination of making bad decisions and being forced to hire too far down our list. Up-and-comers don't always up-and-come to our expectations.

If I had to guess, UT’s line of priority is:
Gus > Marrone > Napier
Bill O’Brien > Tom Allen > Chadwell

There are then a ton of coaches in the next tier. Bill Clark, Jeff Monken, Lance Leipold and others come to mind.

Gus is an absolute give up hire. Waive the white flag.

Bill Clark is the best name I have heard in relation to this potential open position. He wont leave UAB, but in my very unprofessional opinion, he should be the very first call.

We're in the thick of it now. Have to see it through. When you bring in outside counsel, you follow it where it leads, knowing there could be collateral damage. Their primary goal is to protect and defend the university.

Somehow, I don't see anyway they can spin any of this as a good thing for the university. If they do, it will be money well spent.

Fulmer isn't the only obstacle to hiring Freeze. Far from it.

Well, with the crap show it has become, they had better remove all obstacles to hire him, because otherwise, we are looking squarely at a bigger experimental hire than Pruitt.
