X’s and O’s are way over my head. I guess we have to assume for any coach we believe is good enough, that they can adapt their scheme to what they need to be effective.
Chadwell's offense is essentially what Stoops just fired his OC for running. It has a very limited passing game and it struggled against faster teams and good D lines. Stoops won most of his games at UK with defense anyways and Chadwell is not a top flight DC and its not very likely he could bring one in. Best case scenario imo is give him for ever and you might get UK results. Worse case scenario 3 years of 4-8

Haven’t been under the same leadership for a decade. Cleaned house after the Currie fiasco and things have been moving in the right direction. Infighting goes on at every university across the country. Tennessee is no different. Be prepared for Jeremy to return, and to go 8-4 next year.
Will you leave this site for good when we don’t win eight games next year? And I’m glad that our expectations are 8-4 in year four for a coach.

I don’t know enough to say there have been formal interviews, but I have been told Tennessee is talking to a select handful of potential coaching candidates already.

There is a plan. It might not go as well as Texas with a hiring and firing in one day, but like I said, we are in the market.
Just hire Napier and move on.

Different leadership, exact same tactics. Hire a bargain coach, extend before he really deserves it, get blown out almost every game, set negative records that we never wanted to set, start losing starters to the transfer portal, long time commits go to other schools. If you can't see the pattern, there's not much more I could say to convince you.

The operative word - leadership. Are Boyd and Plowman leaders? They may just be managers or doing as instructed. Don't know. Guess we will find out.

All we can do is hope we back into a good hire some day. Hopefully before I die
I’ve told my adult children this several times in the past month. Tennessee will unexpectedly back into being good again if it ever happens in my life. It will be purely luck.

Dude just shut up. Speaking with certainty about an 8-4 season next year is ignorant.
Why do the people who disagree with you have to shut up? The faith you have in what you believe must pretty weak. By the way, Tennessee is gonna be really good next season and Florida and Georgia will be down...

This "bargain" narrative doesn't really apply. UT overpays coaches to underachieve. That's far from a "bargain" or "cheap."

UT has been doubling and tripling coach's salaries for a decade. Butch brought along his buddies and gave them huge pay bumps. Pruitt has kicked it up a few notches-- with assistants, facilities and support staff. The problem isn't not spending enough-- it's not getting enough out of what we put in.

Will you if they do go 8-4 or better. Why does it make you so mad when someone has a different view? Next year WGWTFA.

Pretty sure UT brass is dragging this out to try and buy time to find a replacement much like Texas did. That being said any coach that would be an acceptable hire and not result in the fans protesting and painting the rock has told them "no thanks"

My personal opinion is if you can’t make a home run hire you bring him back. You don’t blow all that money and start over for Brian Harsin or Kevin Steele like Auburn. Most likely Pruitt is let go midway through next season where hopefully you can get a better candidate. Either way you have kneecapped him and I don’t know how you recover from this. It reminds me of the Les Miles situation at LSU a few years ago. They are ready to move on but you can’t get your tier1 upgrade coach. He knows you shot your shot with the prettier girl and now you’re coming back to him when it didn’t work.

FWIW Everything I have read said the major domino in getting the coaching carousel moving further along is coaches waiting to see what happens with Mullen at Florida. It’s just a much more valued job in the coaching circles.

I haven’t wavered from he will be the coach next season.

Bump. Still holds water.

It’s hard to describe the Mullen/Freeze feud unless you live down here. Ole Miss/MSU is straight up Hatfield/McCoy nonsense.
Like us with Spurrier back in the day. Didn’t mean we didn’t respect him. And if he had been available to steal at his peak?

If I had to guess, UT’s line of priority is:
Gus > Marrone > Napier
Bill O’Brien > Tom Allen > Chadwell

There are then a ton of coaches in the next tier. Bill Clark, Jeff Monken, Lance Leipold and others come to mind.
