I am fully convinced that no one knows anything. It is all conjecture. All we can do is wait.
What we do know is this has been handled poorly from a PR point of view.
My biggest question is, If things are so bad, why did Hooker sign with UT? He had lots of options. He is not all world, but he is a solid QB. With all the dysfunction being discussed in media and social media, why did he pick UT?
Hooker came here because we were his only P5 opportunity

He probably looked at our two returning QB's and figured he was better than both and sees a clear path to start here. Doesn't matter who the coach is.

I apologize if this question has been asked before but I’m not familiar with the David Beaty reference?
Previous coach at Kansas. It was the way Kansas went about firing him and replacing him with Miles..

Basically self report to NCAA and allow them to do a dental exam thru your ass to find something to avoid paying full buyout.. VERY risky maneuver inviting the NCAA to come sniffing around. You better hope you have your house spotless when you do...

I think that about sums it up...

Maybe I’m in the minority here, but I don’t think you have to be a great coach to have success at Tennessee. Easy to recruit to, and there’s only a handful of programs across the country who can provide better resources. A good coach can win 8-10 year in and year out. Find a special QB every few years, and you can take it to another level. I think Napier could be that guy.

I’m not going to disparage you for this statement, but it’s a pretty stunning thing to say given our recent... or long term history

Pruitt's Interview:

Glazier: Mr Gump did you order the code red? Did you start JG?

Pruitt: You're damn right I did!
Son, we live in a world that has balls, and those balls have to be guarded by men with whistles. Whose gonna do it? You? You, Coach Fulmer? I have a greater responsibility than you could possibly fathom. You weep for the fans, and you curse the coaching staff. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know. That my coaching caused the program's death, while tragic, probably saved me a spot on Saban's staff . And that my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves that position. You don't want the truth because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that sideline, you need me on that sideline. We use words like aight, cornbread , and duh huh. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent ruining something. You use them as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and eats asparagus under the blanket of the crap that I provide, then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said thank you, and went on your way, Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a whistle, and stand on a sideline . Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you are entitled to.

CLIFFNOTES
0) Notes that Pruitt's status was an open secret since we backed out of the Liberty Bowl and we weren't hiring replacements, not surprising.
1) Tennessee is engaging in a David Beaty-esque situation, because we straight up do not have the cash to afford the full buyout.
2) Suggests that Tennessee raises our hands and say "we have done bad" to get ahead of the NCAA investigation that would come with pulling a David Beaty.
3) The value of the Tennessee job will be clearer after the investigation (long, long-winded response to this question so I summed it up.)
4) Steven/Host wants Gus but the caller suggests it could only work if Gus could bring an Auburn level staff, but notes that Gus would only come with some serious cash/competition incentives.
5) Comes back to the David Beaty situation, really makes note this investigation, and our handling of it, could seriously cost us with candidates like Napier, Campbell and more.
6) Rambles about Vandy, but notes that Clark Lea is making sure Nashville is a priority (not good for Tennessee bc Nashville really is booming and a future hot spot of recruiting IMO)

My big takeaway? I think we're underselling how serious the investigation & David Beaty-esque situation we are in. To me it seems like Freeze would be the first & possibly only person to take this job even with the issues we're facing.

Listened to it as well. Lost his credibility when he said Gus would bring Steele with him.

He also admitting that Barton Simmons is a big source of his and then goes on to act like Barton is some world class talent scout.

I'm not sure what kind of "news" Trey is trying to make this. This is just a standard agreement letter for their services. I guess showing it started late November.....which we all already knew.
I thought the same thing. Does Trey not know what a service agreement or contract is? We know what the lawyers are getting paid now...cool.
