Trump Supporters Gathering in D.C. - Mayor Readies for Those ‘Seeking Confrontation’

They either supported the people (and maybe they are aware of enough shenanigans in DC that they do support them) or they were setting them up to look bad. Either way, it's a big problem that isn't even close to getting fixed.
Both of those explanations are conspiratorial. Is that the best we've got so far?

There's video of police opening the barricades. I don't understand why they would do that.
One of two things.

Either someone wanted it to escalate to make Trump/protestors look bad or someone sympathetic to the protest thought they were helping.

She intended to advance on the officer and those being protected thru a broken window to bypass the barricaded door. She was very likely told to stop but did it anyways. Uniformed officers get off for less and you know it

You're positive about her intentions?

You better be as absolute as the sun rising because she never even made it into the chamber. And before you even think to argue, where did she fall and where was she treated?

She was executed. And if you recall, I've been one of the ones leading the charge on the LEO side of things when shootings happen. This was not a good shoot unless, again, you think politician's lives are worth more than ours. Because not all animals are equal.

There’s a capitol police officer that came out today and said some of the protestors were his fellow officers and were flashing their badges to the other cops.

It’s the exact same thing. For some, “Cop just doing his job” depends on whether you believe in the cause.

I'm looking at it strictly by the law. I personally think he fired to quickly and didn't have to kill the guy. Lawfully, his attorney general had stated that a taser was a deadly weapon in an earlier case.

You may end up being proven right. But if she is deemed to have been murdered, I’d say it’s because an individual cop got nervous and took a bad shot; not because of her particular cause.

Do we think those officers manning barricades acting on their on volition or at the instruction of superiors?

Yes, she was advancing (ie going forward) thru the window toward the guys with guns drawn. If we can't agree on that video-backed fact then the discussion kinda breaks down

Yes, I think the security of the entire Senate is worth more than the life of one dumbass who can't follow directions

There's video of police opening the barricades. I don't understand why they would do that.

Per Politifact:

"But the viral, 14-second video clip that some are using to claim that officers willingly let rioters past barricades and into the Capitol is being misrepresented online, said journalist Marcus Diapola, who shot the video.

"They definitely didn't just open the barriers," Diapola told PolitiFact. "The pro-Trump rioters made a fist like they were going to punch the cops, which is why I started recording. Then (police) backed off the barricades.

"They were completely outnumbered," Diapola said. "There wouldn't have been any point in fighting."

Diapola said the video was taken around 2 p.m. near the northeast entrance of the Capitol and estimated that the officers were outnumbered "100 to 1," with only around 30 officers spread out between three entrances on that side of the Capitol, compared with thousands of protesters."

That wasn't so hard to admit.

If you care to look up the laws that govern how you are able to protect yourself and you should, you'd find out that the laws depending on the state you live in give you a more liberal use of force. It's a private residence. To you're other point, they do have added protection. They have their own LE units assigned to them. They still have to enforce the law in a lawful matter.

Don't dance around the subject here. If you want to have a legit discussion I'm all for it, but don't side step when you get asked a question or when someone actually responds to what you asked directly. So let me lay it out really neatly so there is no way for either of us to misunderstand or misrepresent what the other is saying.

You asked if Congress should have protection that is beyond average citizens. I think they should. Do you agree or disgaree? It's a simple yes or no.

At the time the woman was shot, climbing through a window and in the video you can see damage, do you feel that it was still a "peaceful protest" at that time? At that point I do not think it could be considered peaceful. Do you agree or disagree? Yes it was still peaceful at that point or no it wasn't is all I need.

Lastly, do you think that it is possible to 100% believe that everyone in that group of people running inside the building only wanted to talk? Or do you think it would be impossible to know what everyone in a crowd is thinking and that extra force might be necessary when guarding a large group of high level government officials? It's A or B.

Repeat after me, Biscuit.

She. Had. Not. Made. It. Through. The. Window.

She was not a threat. You do not know if she had intent to harm anyone. You do not know if she had the capability to harm anyone. And did damn sure she didn't have the opportunity to harm anyone.

I thought fists were good?

A taser is considered a deadly weapon in GA.

Less lethal.

Let me try to add some clarification here. 16-11-106 (a) defines a Taser (electrical stun gun over 20,000 volts) as a "firearm", and thus most...but importantly not all...statutes regarding firearms apply to Tasers. Fulton County DA Paul Howard has done a great job of muddying the waters, essentially stating that a Taser IS Deadly Force if an LEO is holding it, but IS NOT if a fleeing felon is holding it...after taking it from an LEO. Nice job, Mr. Howard.

In fact, the laws in Georgia regarding what a Taser is, or is not, leave some room for interpretation. While it is generally accepted that a Taser, properly employed, is less lethal...the fact is that an expandable or wooden baton can be considered Deadly Force if used improperly (e.g. - strikes to the head).

So by extrapolation, a baton...properly used...would not be considered Deadly Force. Same goes for the Taser. Properly used, it is not Deadly Force. But, put a probe in someone's eyeball, and who knows? An actual firearm, by the very nature of its' wounding mechanism(s), has to be considered Deadly Force regardless of the point of aim / impact. It's really just a matter of common sense, which...unfortunately...a majority of our elected representatives seen unable to grasp or capture in plain, easy to understand language.

But yes, if you point a Taser at me, I will likely respond with gunfire.

We’ll probably never know. Wouldn’t surprise me if some officers were supportive of protestors and wanted to help them along.

Oh she was just going to sit up there perched like a bird and squawk and him?

Well, that changes everything. I'm going to go rethink my entire stance now

Wait....officers were in the protest??? Like Capitol hill police, DC police, or a "brother/sister in blue"?

Please try and listen this time. Congress does have protection above average citizens. I don't have my own damn police force following me around, congress does. Was burning cities down peaceful, it was reported as much. Yes, I think 100% the people wanted to talk/shout at their elected officials.
