Thanks for everything you have done for different folks over the years. I’ve lurked on the board for awhile and it appears you are a great man. With that being said, it appears you have a disdain for Phillip. He’s done more for this great university than you’ll ever do. Every move he makes is for the betterment of the university and our athletics programs.
Lol thanks Phil! Great hire!!! Lol

Pretty sure Casey Alexander was in line to take over for Rick had he left for UCLA. I like Rick, and he’s a fine basketball coach. That doesn’t mean he’s worth the money he’s being paid. Three different coaches have led UT to a Sweet 16 over the past 15 years. That speaks to the kind of job this is. Lots of guys can win here.
If lots of guys can win here, like year in and year out WIN...then why has no one EVER done it consistently? Bruce and Rick are the only guys I have ever seen put together a program that could have year over after year good teams since who..Ray Mears?. That is a LONG f'n time.

Considering the utter toxic wasteland this job was when Rick Barnes fell into our lap, he has worked a near miracle and we should thank him for it...he is worth every damn dime he gets, and I wish idiots would quit bitchin about it.

I don't care if he ever wins a title here, he has built a program from ashes that provides us with good solid teams with outstanding young men that we can and should be very proud of...he is worth every f'n dime..period.

I appreciate Fulmer, although I'm too young to remember the greatness of the 90s. However, the game had pretty clearly passed him by. Hiring a Xs and Os old school defensive head coach with little to no CEO skills is further evidence of that.
Tuck, we had been told no by every single person we interviewed. Literally, Jeremy was only one who said yes. Furthermore at the time everyone, incl myself was excited we had a 'baw coach'. Pruitt said and did all the right things. I think that's why this year was magnified so much.

Edit: The pedo said yes, that is one who didnt say no.

someone that coached for 30+ years, is out of the game?

i recall distinctly Fulmer's name being considered in NFL backintheday. Fulmer may not be Gruden or Belichick, but those dudes are propf that old school can still work.

Look, i'm not exactly in favor of a 100% I formation. But, sprinkled in, with some power or speed option plays, keeps a defense on its toes.

When Fulmer is gone people are def going to look back about how he was under appreciated.
You said it best with back in the day. Who hired Fulmer after we fired him? I’ll wait.

Look I like Fulmer as much as anyone but he is also known to be very stubborn which got him fired in the first place. He has done a lot for the university agreed BUT he’s not bigger than it so those saying he is best for UT as AD need to really think hard on that. I think his stubbornness might get him again. We need someone who knows how to be AD not a former coach. At being the CEO of something sometimes you have to admit to making a wrong hire and correct it. Will Fulmers stubbornness let him do so??

I don’t have a disdain for Phillip. He is a friend (off the field) and was a hell of a football coach and did wonderful things for the program and the university in the hey day. But just because of that doesn’t give him a pass to do the things he has since becoming the AD. PERIOD.

Behind closed doors he has done more damage to the football program since he departed than any single person in the history of the program. If you ask any current coach who has been there since he has been AD in a closed room setting you would be astonished to hear the meddling and the toxic environment he has created. Trust me here...as more and more of this staff leave the more and more dirt will come out publicly about him and it will be a real bad look for him and the university for allowing it to happen.

There is a reason why you have a large conglomerate of very high profile boosters who have demanded him ride off into the sunset...guess we will see what happens.

Bruce Pearl

...is still winless in the SEC right now.

I loved Pearl, but he did what he did to himself. He's gone, it was a great era for us and he took us to our only Elite Eight in program history. But I wouldn't want him over Barnes at all, I prefer having a well respected culture that puts guys in the NBA instead of one that puts them in court.

No argument there brother. I think the warts showed up much more rapidly than any of us anticipated. I agree that's what made this so much more deflating than all of our other past failures. Just to me it seems like Fulmer's hands are still a little too much in the cookie jar, and it shows.

Fulmer and Pruitt have a good relationship, stop making crap up. And you have a soccer avi, good Lord.
I played soccer in college. What’s hard to believe? Still know people who know a hell of a lot more about football than almost everyone on here. Ones that made this program great. And I’m not saying trust have a bad relationship. Did I state that? Please quote it.
