We will fire mid-morning on a Monday. As for the hire...if it’s a big name it will be announced at 11:30pm on a Saturday. If it’s any of the meh candidates, it will also be announced mid-morning on a Monday.

For those of you that think all of this will be better for us in the long run as long as Pruitt is let go, have very short memories. This is Tennessee. We are not going to get a slap on the wrist. The NCAA will bring their big hammers against us to show Alabama, Georgia and Florida just how serious they are about compliance.

Would be a nightmare scenario for UT football.

A bunch of draftable UGA juniors and seniors are coming back.

I’m sure there’s no shady business going on there.

Might want to get the 1980 jokes in now, because they’re stacked across the board next year.
How many came back? I only saw 4. Daniels, Davis, Cook, and Wyatt. Ojulari, LeCounte, Herring, Campbell, Stokes, and Rice all left. I still haven't seen Salyer or Zamir White

Keep the NCAA off our backs? If our administration fought for or defended the football program even Pruitt may have been successful here.
He wasn’t successful in year 3. And this has only been going on for the past month. Pruitt has been given almost unlimited resources in his time here.

Someone give me the rundown on Marrone. That seems where this is heading. Pros? Cons? What's up there? I know he had a good year in the NFL.

Here's a link to an interview with him. Seems like a nice guy, but I can't imagine recruits going nuts to play for him:

Nah it’s been going on the whole time he has been here..... we don’t protect our players like Alabama or many other SEC schools do

idk man. the NFL is full of garbage retread coaches.
Seems like its just a big carousel of the same retread coaches. One guy gets fired for doing a crappy job and then gets hired by another teams even though he sucked at his previous job

I don't think the NCAA forced him to hire the worst OC in the SEC and pay him a head coaches salary. Not many DC's make good head coaches...Saban is the unicorn. Today's game is all about offense.

I don't understand why they don't take the chance on more college head coaches. But to prove our point, an NFL team hired Kingsburry, who had just gotten fired from Tech LMAO.

Name an example we didn’t protect a player where we should have. And don’t say Jeremy Banks or Kivon Bennet.

Finally read the ESPN article from this morning. What a joke.... "A handful of Tennessee's best players have left the program" and "star defensive end Deandre Johnson transferred to Miami". Why does every article about everything now have to be embellished?
Yes, literally none of that is true. None of our best players have left except for Bryce and that was to the NFL. the only player in the portal I would like back is Shrout because we need QB depth. We haven't lost anyone of significance. Yet.

Former offensive lineman, came up as an offensive line coach through the ACC and SEC. Got an NFL bump off of our job in 2001.

Notably, he was Sean Payton's first hire when he got the job in New Orleans. He was Payton's first Offensive Coordinator.

Took the Syracuse job because he's an alum there, but realized pretty quickly it was a tough job. He had fine results, but bounced back to the NFL as soon as he got an opportunity with the Bills. He got the Bills opportunity based on his reputation under Payton, not because of anything at Syracuse.

Resigned as Bills coach after two years due to an ownership change. Took an assistant job in Jacksonville and got that interim job after Del Rio was fired. He stuck there because the players loved him.

Took the Jags to the AFC championship game with Bortles, but ownership blew it up shortly thereafter.

My only hope in this thing is some of the candidates out there grew up with a passion for TN. Otherwise I’d be pretty much expecting a fire and hire of an even worse coach than Dooley.

Freeze imo would overlook any systematic issues and look at this as his chance at his dream job no matter how he got it.

Napier. I’m not sold but I think potential is there. I feel like he has his eye on something to turn down Auburn and S.Carolina. TN native that could overlook things but then again he may not. Just not sure what else out there he could have been waiting on to turn down Auburn.

Bill O Brien - doesn’t fit the passion for TN part but he fits the profile of a guy who isn’t scared to take on a **** show. He went full steam ahead into the Penn St wildfire so I don’t think this would scare him. The question is which college jobs are on his wish list for his reasoning to be willing to go to Bama as OC. It’s clear he views college HC as a next goal.

Doug Marrone - has always wanted this job. Probably would be a better hire than we think but I’d prefer not unless he has a Wow staff.

Gus - doesn’t fit the TN passion part but growing up in Arky he fully understands TN and what it’s potential is. Could possibly look over our messy ATheltic dept. low ceiling but high floor. You know what your getting. I’d be interested to see if he starts over somewhere with Chad Morris as his OC with more time to actually implement that offense that Chad has had success with everywhere. Remember he didn’t have a spring or true camp to install that Clemson scheme.
