The good thing (timing-wise) is that we aren't competing with any other big jobs for head coach. Unless Mullen or Harbaugh make a jump to the NFL, we should not have to compete with anyone for a head coaching candidate. Just like you see with Friend, even if someone like Herman or Marrone took a coordinator or less HC job before we cut bait with Gump, they can easily wait to sign if they think we're gonna open up. The other likely candidates are just doing business as usual with the assumption they are staying where they currently are. Now, I'm definitely worried about how attractive this job is looking right now, but I don't think holding this out for another week is gonna hurt too bad in the new hire dept.

The timing is only terrible if we retain Pruitt. Then we've wasted 3 weeks not filing our staff out and recruiting transfers for spring ball.

Chris Low is giving his opinion. A very informed opinion, but understandably, quite measured. UT is waiting on the final recommendations from outside counsel. Why pay all that money to hire experts without listening to them?
I'll say this. When I've been in meetings with outside counsel and there's an employment issue on the table, that answer more likely than not is to fire them. Granted, I don't work in an industry where employees have contractual buyouts.

Tennessee is in the best position to get the best option coaching wise it’s been in a long time. No competition from major programs to bid against but they can’t drag their feet

Uga Clemson and Alabama pull what they pull every year...

Yet we’re the ones that are gonna get in trouble for recruiting?

More than likely because we were incredibly stupid about it. There's a reason they don't get caught. Let everyone OUTSIDE the program handle all that and never bring it in house like Nieds and others "allegedly" did. That way you can play the I didnt know about it game and there's no way to prove you did.

I think they're being careful to make sure they don't find themselves in the middle of a law suit
I think it's possible they are letting him dangle in the wind also until he gets so frustrated, that negotiating a buyout seems like the best option in his mind.

About to buy my first house to flip. If anyone on this forum works construction or is a GC let me know. Almost 100% of the work will be hired. Always looking to help my Vol brethren out.
Good luck! Im an agent in Knox and would love to assist with your purchase. I have a network of GC that could assist with the remodel. Let me know if I can help!

They’ll probably go until winter conditioning, then hire a new coach and instead of interviewing assistants he has to spend time making the right strength coach hire because his new players are running in place on a mat with no direction!

But players at Bama UGA UF can post pics of cars and stacks of cash and there is totally nothing going on there. They made at that at their part time jobs. Only TN pays its players to win 3 games. Can't make this stuff up.
A big reason why we need to get good again is so our deniability seems plausible. Most programs have built in what they would consider to be plausible deniability, but it is really only plausible if you're winning.

Uh, you’re talking about the program that has been paying buyouts out the wazoo to McGoogle coaches. They aren’t the sharpest tools in the shed. Wouldn’t put anything past these idiots running this clown show.

How can they act like whatever this investigation is about is so serious and enough to fire Pruitt, then hire a coach fired for Major infractions? You guys are setting yourself up for disappointment. Not gonna happen.

That's kind of been our credo the last decade or so no matter what the fans want... no? So let us at least dream of nicer things...
