For the lawyer folks out there is they any more risk than the buyout for firing him?

meaning he’s been told he’s coming back but this investigation is now the issue. Would he be able to sue to more $ if he could prove he wasn’t involved with the ncaa stuff???

Maybe that’s a dumb question but thought it was worth bringing up

Hundreds of pages I haven't read, so I don't know what all has cycled through. But things took a turn with outside counsel and it has become adversarial. Many P5 schools retain Glazier and the investigation proceeds without the rancor UT has unleashed. Creating this level of turmoil and toxicity isn't a good look and it isn't good for the program or the university.

LA, appreciate the info, it sounds like the internal animosity has almost caught up with the angst within the fan base. If that's the case, at what point does the admin realize that regardless of what anyone thinks individually things have just gone too far to salvage regardless of what any investigation turns up or anything else?

The fans have ruined this program! I can’t believe they hired these terrible coaches. I can’t believe they are making all these players transfer. I’m just so over the fans and all the destruction they have caused.

Mock it all you want but they dang sure stopped a really good coach from being hired.
We’d be in a very different spot today if that Sunday didn’t happen

Replaced everybody-- President, Chancellor, AD, the entire BOT, HC, assistants-- even admin assistants. They even revamped the VFL program.

UT was incredibly stable for decades... and was a top program in the marquee sports. UT had one of the few profitable WBB programs. UT brands were strong. Now UT has been incredibly unstable for more than a decade... and has dropped to the bottom of the conference in FB and WBB. WBB is no longer profitable, and UT brands are tarnished. Self-inflicted-- all of it.
Winning helps :)

This is why no one comes here. You really think a coach wants to work for people that can’t make a decision. I get everything is different on the inside then what we are hearing, but is it really that hard of a decision to keep or fire Pruitt? I mean, I’m starting to get the feeling they do this purposely to try to prove a point. I don’t get it man.

I know I’m in the minority, but I think Herman does extremely well here. Young, chip on his shoulder, wants to prove himself, hot wife. Saves you buyout money. This seriously makes the most sense. I question marrones desire to coach college ball. Herman also already has relationships built with recruits.

He had a more talented roster in 99% of his games at Texas. Should’ve won 10-11 games every year. But you think he can win with less talent here?

I’m gonna root for whoever the coach is but still..

oh, yeah, i agree. i was excited about all the change. but even then i knew the state of the football program was such that it wasn't going to be a quick fix.

that's part of the reason that if we were to decide to keep pruitt, i'd understand it. may not like it, but i'd get it....we were a mess.

3 years later.....it sure doesn't feel like much has changed, and with how this is playing out, and you could argue it's worse....cause this is plain irresponsible for it to get to this point.

Agree we need to settle this, ranted about it last night, but other than Gilbert, are there any names in the portal we should be chasing atm? I mean, I guess we could look at some of the DL, but what we really need is corners, and I don't recall any stand out corners entering the portal as of yet. Any good Edge rushers?
Not at the moment from what I see. Maybe not but I’m sure there are some that put feelers out cuz it seems some know where they are going before they put their name out so they don’t cause strife with current team or lose their spot.

I can see why Fulmer likes him so much, like looking in a mirror. View attachment 336558

*Whatever..... let's just get this over with.

GBO
Something just feels like UT wouldn’t hire him. Not sure what it is. But there’s something. We need someone like a Bruce Pearl type personality. Mehrone is not that person.

That’s a fair point. I think the games being so close is why I somewhat overlook it. More of a bad luck thing than anything. Few bounces here and there and that record is reversed. These were pretty much all one possession games. I also think Texas has become hard to win at with behind the scenes stuff.

The fact they are allowing this thing to linger and fester like an open wound lets me know they are still incompetent for one, but also like we've said over and over, they don't care for Pruitt personally and have no problem letting him squirm.

You can't come back from this. It's ugly. Someone compared it to LSU with Les Miles and I think that fits.

It's ugly. A risky strategy-- and unnecessary. There will be collateral damage.

How well would Marrone be able to recruit? He hasn't been on the trail in many years, and not in the south either... And hasn't had to go against the slimy GA's AU's FL's and AL's in recruiting/negative recruiting... The key, and only way I think he'd be okay is if he were able to bring in a VERY experienced staff, which you would think he could do, having so many NFL connections...

But it may not make a difference because it sounds like the Admin and AD are fighting and won't have anything cleared up until February, when UT will basically be a barren wasteland...

Win and develop players, and the recruiting will come along.

Shouldn’t have been 1 possession games. Texas out-recruits the entire conference besides OK by a wide margin.

And we have more “behind the scenes” than any program in the country.

Yep - word gets around.

If you keep him, he will tank this thing semi-purposely just to get out of here.

If you fire him, you've severely limited your talent pool.

They better hope they've got a rabbit in their hat, otherwise we're looking at another "Kevin Steele or Jeremy Pruitt" type debate.
