The passion of the Tennessee fanbase is second to none. However, that passion can also be a detriment at times. Most notably on social media. If everything isn’t pie in the sky, group think amongst the fanbase leads to wanting to just fire people. The reality is, most don’t know what really goes into running a successful program. They just think they do. We finally have people in leadership positions that have a backbone. Shut up and stay the course.
Lol

I still go back to the point that cats were being developed in Pruitt’s first two years. Corona placed a huge burden on these kids. No spring practice, no summer workouts, pretty much no fall practice. This past offseason was crucial to the development of a primarily young football team. Bring Steele and Garner in (who are incredible recruiters), get a couple difference making transfers, better QB play, and I think a lot of people will be pleasantly surprised in year 4.
Every team in America had to deal with covid, its not exclusive to Pruitt and Tennessee. Pruitt isn't a smart person and he treats people like sh!t

I honestly don't understand it either. I get why people wouldn't want him to go to the NFL, but that decision is not on them (the fans). It's on the player. And they can do whatever they want with that decision. If they chose to go to the NFL I will support them and be happy for them. Not many people get to say what he just said (I am entering the NFL Draft). If they choose to stay then I will happily accept them back and wish them a great year.

So in all, I understand GR jr.'s statement and where he is coming from. I also understand the anguish that this fanbase has felt and gone through as I am as much a part of it as everyone else here on this board. However, this anguish does not give any right to the fan to crap over the kid announcing (and let's be honest a fan actually doesn't have any right to do that, but freedom of speech blah blah blah and what not). Be happy for the kid. Wish him well and focus your disdain on those who should receive it.

I do think he shouldn't have made it sound like the whole fanbase is horrid, though.
You're right, he shouldn't...but man the horrid ones are SO loud.

Now I know you're trolling. Toodles.

Our players and parents are fully, openly supportive of CJP. The ones actually putting all the work in along with their futures in his leadership. A National Championship winning AD fully supports CJP. The fans and a couple of administrators not so much. Unless you find level 1’s wrap this up and give the man another year to do his job.
And give him the assistants he wants for the money required. Force him to replace Chaney tho

Yes, they did. Not all had to deal with it to the extent UT did. Lots of guys were sidelined for 14 days, multiple times, when they never tested positive. It hindered development.

I'm slowly warming up to the idea of going with an NFL guy. But I would probably prefer Jason Garrett over O'Brien or Marrone.

I'm a cowboys fan and he wasn't as bad as some folks say. Without a couple incredible Aaron Rodgers plays, he probably makes a couple deep runs in the playoffs. He never had more than one or two truly great teams, but the cowboys were very consistently good under him.

All the reasons we liked Gruden in the past would apply to Garrett (admittedly without the Superbowl ring to flash around). He didnt burn any bridges on his way out like O'Brien did. Won more consistently than Marrone. Could attract a potentially incredible staff.

Not an elite NFL coach, but that doesn't mean he wouldn't be an elite college one.

Give him total Saban-like control and he's one of the few coaches that might actually know what to do with it. He would represent us really well and bring stability and toughness. Can he recruit? That would be the question. But if Butch could do it I feel like anybody can.

Just a couple cents to throw around in the old noggin.

I like O’Brien and Marrone because they had been HC’s in college football as well.

Jeremy?

MVP and most improved player are two different awards. Allen wasn't even the best QB in the league.

Has nothing to do with most improved or best stat wise. Both Henry and Allen are important to their individual team's successes. I quoted stats vs. stats.

I just believe Allen was more important to his team's success than Henry. Therefore more valuable. And I know there is a QB up in the Pacific NW that should be in consideration as well. Also, LAC has a rookie QB that, should he have started from day 1 might have been in the conversation. Plus, there is a receiver in GB that could lay claim. Still, I think Allen is deserving. I will have no qualms should Henry win the award.

We all have our opinions. Heck, look at this board.

Freeze...Fickell...Gus...Herman...Campbell...Napier...Chadwell...etc. Everyone has a different opinion. Some even believe Pruitt.

Covid isn't an excuse, period. The signs were there last year when Pruitt had 8 months to prepare for GA State and failed. He followed up a blow loss to Vandy with a loss to GA State

And then turning the season around by winning the final six games while rebuilding the worst team in Tennessee history...no it shouldn't. Context is always lost on people like you.

This year was a for sure failure.
Context is the teams we played were of a much lower caliber to finish the year. Beating the teams that we should always beat shouldn’t be celebrated.

Kentucky, Missouri and Indiana were all within 4 points of losing. And bowl wins are great and all, but being competitive in the SEC and against our biggest rivals matters more.
