Now that I agree with
It's also interesting that when Saban's guys go elsewhere to try and "Sabanize" other programs, they try to Sabanize it with a particular version of Saban. It's always Saban circa 2009. Pruitt is trying to Sabanize Tennessee with the version of Saban that existed during Pruitt's formative years at Alabama.

Saban is of course a highly adaptive coach - he runs modern, explosive offenses now and started recruiting smaller, faster LBs about 5 years ago to help defend these faster offenses. Pruitt is of course not an adaptive guy, and that's because Saban hires guys who are only proficient at following directions to his exact specs, whatever they might be at the time.

Has anyone discussed the issue of players leaving and not be able to fill their spots due to the hard 25 limit? I realize we left some spots for some transfers but I could see our roster being thin due to the new transfer rule. I think if they're going to open it up to one time free transfers, the school should get the spot back.

Double standard much?
You and all the VFL , bleed orange crowd are FOS!
Fulmer did his job, that he was paid to do. Nothing more.
Devoted a half century of service as a VFL, lol
He wasn’t doing voluntary work, he’s been paid millions. It doesn’t call for him to be Knighted.
He was a good coach, accomplished a lot and deserves credit for it.
Should of stayed retired. Since coming back has been a disaster and deserves the criticism he has received.
1 NC and a few conference titles- there’s several coaches at different schools that can claim that but I guarantee not a single one of the other fan bases have relegated them to godlike status.
You want Godlike status? Look a Joe Paterno,
46 years , 6 below .500 40 above .500.
Worst scenario you can imagine ended it, they moved on.
Since 2012- 1 let me say that again ( 1 ) losing season. UT since 2012 -how many losing seasons?
Has it been LFL’s that bleed blue making them respectable?
UT fans need to come out from the past and worry about how we are gonna get respectable again , and not who’s a VFL and bleeds orange!

So an actor playing using black face in a movie as a costume is different from a person dressing up for Halloween in black face? That seems inconsistent. (I don't care about either, btw)
For one... it’s a movie about black FBI agents going undercover as white women.

The other is a redneck trying to be funny.

I agree with this. I would wager that Fulmer is the exact same way.

What it comes down to for me is, Pruitt isn't head coach material. I wished he was but he isn't, so if you keep him your going further away from where you want to be. I have no idea who would come here, but we all know if whoever they are did come here and win, we would be ready to put a statue outside of Neyland of them.

Yep - look at our linebackers. Big bruisers who can't run in pass coverage.

Saban doesn't do that anymore.

Except Kiffin. lol

Shouldn’t be somebody you settle for if Mullen doesn’t accept your offer.

Oh I agree, but the Jets may not even get the chance to offer him is what I'm saying. I will be shocked if Atlanta doesn't offer him and he take that job.

Arguably the best WR in the game and a top tier QB as well as Todd Gurley on the roster? Unless the Falcons are purging that offense as an OC that's the top landing spot I'd want to be at.

Depending on which seniors stay with next year’s 85 man exemption, I don’t see it being an issue.

great post......could you expound a little on the bolded portion?
I think that Fulmer was doing a great job putting up top dollar for assistants and while many blame Chaney for our offensive woes 1. Chaney was Pruitt’s do over after Helton 2. The price we were willing to pay showed fans and more importantly every coach in cfb that we were willing to commit to winning and 3 pulling him from a divisional rival was a legit power move that established that while we might be down we were still Tennessee and that move had the added benefit of harming UGA far more than anyone acknowledges. There were also things like Pruitt’s duties as an HC that were either eliminated, done by others on his behalf, or lessened to give him every moment to focus on football.

As for the in-built set of problems/enemies willing to undermine him and cut their (and UT’s) nose off to spite their and our faces that can be summarized by simply stating that neither the Haslams nor their allies were going to tolerate Fulmer getting too much credit or even simply operating unhindered for too long. They already disliked Fulmer but as he was brought in after they lost the battle along with a ton of face on Schiano Sunday anything that might’ve been buried between them was bound to bubble back up. Unfortunately, there are far too many involved in UT sports that care far more about their standing, various political machinations, and self-interests than seeing our football program succeed.

While nearly every fan in Neyland sets aside even things as hot button as race, religion, politics, and everything else and becomes one United group under a big orange flag when it comes to our teams the same is not true for those trying to control it.

Atlanta is cap screwed and Matt Ryan is average. It’s a good job but their roster and cap situation is trouble

Atlanta would be perfect. He could get a lot out of Ryan while looking for his heir.

Crouch is a tweener that’s playing a position he has little to no ceiling at. Even if he did i wouldn’t care.... but i would like another coaches opinion and see how they could use him somewhere.

Crouch is an up back playing out of position.
He’d be a perfect fit in GT or Navy offense.
