I would be ecstatic with either Napier or Chadwell...Both have expressed interest through back channels. Chadwell is a Tennessee guy to his core. Up until now the Tennessee brass has elected to stick with Jeremy over those two. If this investigation really turns south, my money is on one of those two being your next head football coach. Wouldn’t be shocked if it was Malzahn though either.
If anything we kept Butch and especially Dooley too long. If we give Pruitt another year we will have kept him a year too long also. When has this happened?
Fulmer was an elite recruiter until the mid 2000s, even when his teams were, as you said, not meeting lofty expectations. His recruiting fell off a cliff after he had a couple below .500 seasons - "below lofty expectations" is putting those seasons very mildly.
Kiffin left after one year. Dooley left after 3 terrible years. Butch's recruiting fell off a cliff during his disastrous 2017 season when he went 0-8 in conference play.
Where does this notion that we "run off coaches after one bad season" or that we run off coaches too early come from? Tennessee's problem is with who we hire on the front end, not when we fire people.
To be fair the west has been significantly better than the east in his time there. Bama, UGA, Florida isn’t any harder than Bama, UGA, LSU, Texas A&MGus had as much, if not more, talent at Auburn than he’d have here and plays essentially the same schedule, except he also gets Florida every year (to go with GA and the inbreds). That’s gonna be a no from me, dog.
I’d have reservations with both but short of UT hiring Meyer or Saban I’d have reservations with just about anyone. Chadwell is particularly intriguing to me. I’ve always felt that Tennessee athletics as a whole is at its best when there is orange blood at the top. If you study our history, you’ll find that to be the case. Chadwell’s blood runneth orange. If he was the hire, he would be the first head coach we’ve had since Phillip who truly valued the Tennessee job above all else. I could get behind it.I would be ecstatic with either Napier or Chadwell...
Because idiot Hart thought that'd be firing him "too quick" (like some people seem to think we do), so Dooley figured he'd stick around for another year and collect some checks. Not sure how you can go 5-7 and lose to Kentucky for the first time in 30 years and come back. And went 6-7 the year prior

None of Saban's guys know how to be their own coach with the exception of Jimbo Fisher. Saban hires order-takers and rule-followers. When his guys go other places, they default to attempting to recreate what they did under Saban, and it doesn't work.
These guys suck at coming up with their own "process" and culture, and it's because Saban doesn't hire guys with those skillsets. He doesn't need guys to come in and help develop a process because Saban has it figured out and just needs minions to implement what he's developed.
