Sounds like he was a white trash version of Kiffin... I understand we all have our influences in life. And those influences shape our mindsets... but at some point you have to gather all you’ve learned, create your own identity and run with it. Seem like that’s what Kiffin is doing now. <sigh>... I wish he were our coach. No i think he cares even if it’s for just his personal ego. For me and i think a lot of support staffers would agree with me.... Pruitt spent way more energy trying to turn us into bama than using what we already have built.
Practice layout, signage, furniture, locker rooms, uniforms, the way take our team photo, hell even our warm up jumping jack clap “V-O-L-S” bama did it B-A-M-A. Some of it was needed like how many support staff and off field coaches we have now. They brought in their own athletic trainer who is solely over football which i thought was good.
But man you gotta be your own coach eventually.
You guys crack me up. You have a dumpster fire on your hands with Jeremy as coach after getting torched by all the good teams in the SEC - and you worry about losing players on the roster or sanctions from the NCAA? Do you not realize this is going to be a complete rebuild? You are starting at the bottom. Jeremy has already gone through a couple of staffs of assistants and has burned every bridge on the academic side. The players on the roster are 6-6 at best players that have to be redeveloped and trained into a new system. This is all about who they hire and whether it will take 2 or as much as 4 years to compete at a reasonably high level again.
Florida's firing of Mac is an excellent representation of the mentality teams like Florida (and our other rivals) have versus the mentality we have.Spurrier leaving isn't a knock against the program. He's UF's favorite son. Tried the NFL and it didn't work and they had Meyer by then. Meyer left because Saban took over the SEC. And Mullen is just on a shorter timeline than Spurrier.
Firing Mac is the knock against them but 4-7 is hard to argue against as a fireable offense, plus the fake death threats.
You need to understand that hiring Skillman and Glazier means they have found something in their internal investigation that they are, without doubt, going to have to defend themselves from the NCAA about.
Those two are the biggest dogs in the game. If they suggest firing Pruitt as a means of mitigating the infractions then UT will do so. Fulmer will have zero say.
The roster now with the most recent class added is in significantly better shape than after 2017. But with this NCAA news, and the likely defections, we may end up back in a similar spot. You guys crack me up. Other than Pearl what other situations have they worked at other schools?
Mike's practice is concentrated on the representation of colleges, universities, athletics conferences, associations and individuals in NCAA infractions, eligibility and compliance-related matters. He has appeared on behalf of NCAA member clients before NCAA committees more than any other private practitioner. Mike's clients number well in excess of 100 of the top intercollegiate athletics programs in the country.
Mike is listed in and has been cited by the Sporting News as one of the 50 most influential people in sports and has been the subject of feature articles in Sports Illustrated, USA Today, The Chronicle of Higher Education and numerous other publications.
True. However, if this turns ugly, like previously mentioned, Pru gonna burn bridges on the way, could we ans new coach be looking at sanctions? What type of attrition is going to take place with current players and new recruits? Pru not being here is one thing, setting the program back to ground zero to get rid of him is an entirely different thing! It does if Pruitt is gone. That sounds great
John C Mcginley! Beast of an actor.New tone of the investigation:

None of Saban's guys know how to be their own coach with the exception of Jimbo Fisher. Saban hires order-takers and rule-followers. When his guys go other places, they default to attempting to recreate what they did under Saban, and it doesn't work.No i think he cares even if it’s for just his personal ego. Yep. There's a fine line between being influenced by someone and just simply trying to copy them.Sounds like he was a white trash version of Kiffin... I understand we all have our influences in life. This is true.
Also don't kid yourselves. If Pruitt is fired, many of our best young players will use the one time free transfer to leave. And many of the current signees will ask out of their NLIs. The new coach will be in the same position the last 3 were with total rebuilds in front of them. About a 10% chance a new coach (that UT admin would be able and/or willing to hire) would have enough SWAG to keep our best players at home.
Florida's firing of Mac is an excellent representation of the mentality teams like Florida (and our other rivals) have versus the mentality we have.
When Florida fired Mac they were in the midst of a bad season (3-4), but they had won 19 games the preceding 2 seasons and played in the SECCG both times. Yes, the East stunk, but they were still there. At Tennessee, that would have been good enough to get a nice fat extension and raise. Then he makes these fake death threats. Florida, knowing that McElwain's success there was primarily a factor of the East sucking, acts quickly and cans his ass, even getting a reduced buyout in the process. They then all get on the same page and quickly get Mullen, who was a clear upgrade. Hell, they fired McElwain before we fired Butch, and Butch was in the midst of a winless SEC campaign and coming off a disappointing 2016 season.
Tennessee would never, ever, even contemplate doing that if we were in a similar situation with our HC. #1, we wouldn't want to fire him because the preceding 2 years would have been good enough. #2, even if we wanted to fire him (and even with a reduced buyout), it would have been cost-prohibitive because we likely would have signed him to a huge raise given the preceding 2 years and included that in the buyout. #3, even if we did fire him, our people couldn't/wouldn't get on the same page and would not hire a clear upgrade.
A guy on the football page said that he heard on Knoxville radio that Pruitt has lawyered up. Have you heard that? Not trying to do a dirty drive by... haha
I still got close friends on the hill and would never want to burn a bridge there. Which is why i didn’t go into detail about the investigation when i got wind of it. (I still don’t know exactly what it’s about, i just know it’s a compliance/Thornton center vs a couple football staffers including CJP).
The reason i said ruh-roh was because i trust info that Pruitt absolutely cannot offer contracts to any assistants (even tho he has spoken with some) and this investigation has gotten to the point where he is basically calling UTs bluff. “Fire me or gtfo out of my way” is the text i got.
