I'm just trying to keep up. This morning UT was hiring Doug Marrone. This afternoon is turning toward Gus Mahlzan. Who will be the name mentioned tonight?

I guess that number is all that matters. He had a 9-7 year in Buffalo, which is way above average. For all those clamoring for Mehlen while he was 7-5/8-4 at MSU....

There is so much parity in the NFL that you don't have to have more wins than losses to know what you are doing. I think if he could beat Belichik with Blake Bortles, he could probably beat Shane Beamer, Clark Lea, Eli Drinkwitz, Mark Stoops, and probably even Kirby Smart and Dan Mullen.

But, I won't change your mind, and that's ok.

I don't doubt his coaching ability at all. My question is will he handle recruiting like he needs to. If he does, he may work out.

Oh no not at all. They are an awesome family with great kids. They both graduated from UT and work there now. He was a team manager on the football team for years under Fulmer.

Yep. Investigation still going on. Likely going to use the findings to negotiate Pruitts buyout down some. And maybe they’re going to do like Texas - Fire Pruitt and hire new guy in the same day. Hoping that’s what’s actually going on anyway.

He’s the coach, he has to get the most out of his position. If Chandler is worse than Small why trot him out there? Makes no sense for Graham to do that.

Gus has obvious flaws, but he'd be a massive upgrade and I'd take him here in a heartbeat. Maybe he could also get Kevin Steele to come with him, but I wonder if their relationship is weird now given Steele supposedly wanted the Auburn job.

Good point, and Gus didn't recruit Salter, so it'd kind of be like the same effect. The QBs that Gus has hand-picked and recruited all stunk.

Honest question, does Gus actually let his staff, you know, coach or is he like Pruitt in the sense that he tries to do everything?

If he lets his coaches coach, it's an upgrade already.

Perhaps they are, but I simply don't trust our admin to make that decision. They have proven time and time again that they cannot successfully identify an up-and-coming coach.
