How is Herman a splash?

He didn’t win enough at Texas with more talent on his roster than every team he played against.
Hermon was 32-18 at Texas 12 of those loses came too opponents ranked higher than them. for the most part he beats who he is supposed to and can beats teams like Utah when they were good, beat georgia, ok state this year.

Dexter Manley graduated from Oklahoma State and was years later found to be illiterate.
I remember that story and still find it hard to believe that the system pushed him through grade school, high school, college and through the NFL and he couldn't read. None of that makes sense to me.

Tom Coughlin was/is the biggest problem in Jacksonville.

No defense, Gardner Minshew at QB and 5 cement blocks at OL. Got good young talent in players like James Robinson and Laviska Shenault.

Ok but why wasn’t Texas ranked higher than those teams? They literally have more talent on the roster than anyone else in their conference sans Oklahoma some years.

I've touted Marrone in the past. Would be a more than solid hire. If he brings Myslinski with him that would also be promising. The big man from the Bronx would no doubt hire a great staff. Probably similar to Herm Edwards at ASU.

Agree, lets roll. Dump the Gump and let's get Saint Doug in here and lets GoVols!

The immediate comparison of any coaching candidate to Saban is dumb.
It’s more of an unknown if anything Bc not many NFL head coaches make their way back to college. At least Marrone has shown to be successful in college.

Another interesting note... Marrone’s OC (Nathaniel Hackett) when he was at Syracuse, Buffalo, and jax until 2018 is the current OC for the packers and is highly regarded. So i like that he’s shown an ability to spot good assistants early on.

Probably because they should be.
Have you looked at the big 12 coaches recently? It is a tough conference and he did well. You have Riley, Patterson, Campbell, Gundy, Brown, and Rhule just left. That’s a lot of good coaches to compete against and he won a lot more than he lost. Played the best LSU of all time down to the wire.

From what I heard a lot of players didn't like how Coughlin wanted things to be ran and he killed all the positive momentum the org had going for it.

When you out-recruit every team in your conference on an annual basis, yes you should be playing for championships. You should be flirting with the playoffs. Not going 8-5.

This is literally the same criticism we use against UGA but instead you’re using it to defend Herman?
Who said they are out recruiting everyone? Because of star rankings? Texas talent is way overrated.

Totally agree. Is it development? I know their defense was horrid.

Haha ok so we look at star rankings for every program when talking about recruiting except for Tom Herman at Texas, got it.

Weird how the state of Texas is the only state with overrated players tho. Also weird that Oklahoma gets some of those players and they’re good.
