You are ridiculous. You folks need to get used to the idea that coach Pruitt will be back next year. While this season has been the worst Tennessee football season of my lifetime, I still believe Pruitt is a good coach. The Phillip Fulmer bashing on this board has been absurd. Phillip has dedicated over half of his life to this great university and I trust him to do what he feels is best. He’s smarter than 99% of the folks on this board. Jeremy is going to shake the staff up again, bring in another solid recruiting class along with a couple of attention getting transfers, and we’re going to have a solid 2021 season. Let’s ride.
Other programs didn’t have the same restrictions during program..... wanya Morris is one example of many that they kept in isolation for more than three weeks that never had a positive test.
This year was a failure, no question about it. I believe this program needed a complete overhaul before Pruitt took over. It was always going to take four or five years to really get this thing turned. That’s the vision Pruitt sold Fulmer on before he was hired, and that’s the vision now. Let him get three or four classes of guys that he’s recruited and developed, and then let’s see where we’re at. I happen to think this next year, with good QB play, will look a lot different. We have some dudes in his freshman and sophomore classes. Let’s see how it plays out.
The freshman didn’t get to practice due to no off season. This is also one of the things that bothers me. If this was always a rebuilding year, then why not play young guys more? We sucked anyways. Why not get your young talent in the game and get them ready for next year? He also genuinely thought he could win with JG when it was obvious to everyone in the country he couldnt. That lack of awareness is concerning long term. The freshmen barely played and now we are going into next year and still don't really know what we have.
And yesterday was Jan 2nd, a month after Texas assured everyone Herman was not going to be fired. And yet he was.Where do you think he gets his info? Do you think he can't hire new assistants? It's Jan 3rd and dude still hasn't been fired. See no reason why he wouldn't be able to hire new guys as long as plowman approves.
Appreciate that. As the old saying goes, perception is reality. As of now, the perception is that’s Theres an issue from the top down.I don’t mind folks disagreeing with me. That’s life. I’ve been a long time lurker on this board, and finally decided to start posting. I have had the pleasure of meeting some important people over the years up on The Hill, and let me be the first to say I’ve been as mad as anyone about what’s gone on up there for the past decade plus. However, the difference for me now, I trust our leadership. Phillip Fulmer is going to do what he thinks is best for this program, regardless of what anyone thinks. I’ll stick behind him.
Love ya brother and hope you are right. But I do not think this is what will happen. Pruitt just has no clue how to be a head coach at a program like this and Phil isn't going to be able to help him change it because he will not listen. He did not listen to him when he fired a coach mid season. I know Majors fired his DC but I guarantee you this. Majors did interview him and hire him. I hope I am wrong.
It wasn’t a state rule..... it was rules implemented by the university..... I’m sure Pruitt handles it poorly..... some people handled it well and some handled it poorly..... that is in every business..... state... at my daughter’s high school.... they eliminated the jump ball from basketball and are not allowing runners to score on passes balls in baseball..... tell me how that makes any sense..... I fail to see the point of how different coaches handled a pandemic when hopefully we can get back to some sense of normalcy by this summer.KY is like a police state compared to TN when it comes to covid restrictions, yet they found a way to come into Neyland and kick our @$$. It would also make more sense as excuse if they started out struggling and got better, but the opposite was true.
Even Hubbs and co came out a while back and said that the way Pruitt and co handled the covid stuff poorly.
Everyone just needs to quit throwing out there as an excuse for Pruitt, it’s been debunked.
I've said it before, we've been paying two head coaches simultaneously for about the whole time. It’s sad how much we will have ended up spending after Pruitt is inevitably fired. In salary and buyouts well over $90 million since kiffin.
Could you imagine who we could have hired in 2009 if we just offered $7-$8million a year? Imagine the excess on revenues from the brand not taking a decade long dive into irrelevancy.
So why is it so difficult for us to cut bait at the seemingly right time with all the much better options availableYou misunderstand my comments. I don't think he can get it done. I don't think he's the answer. I never thought he was the answer. I think he was a ridiculously bad hire and I don't think the guy who hired him should get a mulligan. And frankly, it's going to come back and bite everybody in the ass at some point. But I also think when you're stuck with something for a while longer, you can either try and make it better where you can or you can keep doing the exact same thing without making any changes at all.

They have Del Conte. He doesn’t limit himself. I still believe Herman was safe until the top QB prospect in the 22 class flipped to tOSU. That set off the Urban pursuit and Herman was never safe afterwards. And yesterday was Jan 2nd, a month after Texas assured everyone Herman was not going to be fired. And yet he was.
People making these kind of decisions don’t operate on the fan’s timetable, and they can do a 180 so fast it’ll make your head spin.
Don’t assume anything until it happens
