Completely different roster and team. 🤷🏿‍♂️ We were cheated out of this roster and I’m pissed. All of those first 10 players could give you good-great minutes. Let’s not forget Hayes staying.

I would have enjoyed watching these ladies play together! However, going through all of the DRAMA, nope..... I’ll wait on the five commitments over the next two years ! I liked their stories of their recruitment and families etc. I believe the wait will be worth it in the long run ! Looking for the future! Not thinking about the past . JMO 🤔

I’ll always defend these young women in saying; most of that “drama” would have never occurred if they had proper guidance and leadership. 😉

SMU women’s basketball team opts out of season after six games

"This was not a decision our student-athletes took lightly,” SMU athletic director Rick Hart said in the news release. “It was a difficult decision for them to make. That said, we support them, as we have supported the choices of our student-athletes in all sports whether they have elected to compete or to opt out. Our priority is their health, safety and wellbeing. We look forward to our women’s basketball program resuming competition in 2021-22.”

I don't blame any team for opting out is worse now than ever before. For the ones that still are determined to play hopefully everyone will stay safe and we'll have no problems.

First time seeing UCONN and my goodness is Beuckers as good as advertised.... She just does not play like a freshman, very well poised.. I’m impressed

Still waiting for the box score but IMO a meh! game against a ranked opponent. Really good defense holding a high scoring team well below their average.but not so hot on offense. Bueckers and Ono scored but everyone else had a hard time getting the ball in the basket.

I wasn’t impressed by the team at all outside of Beuckers and ONO(but she wasn’t going against tall physical posts like she’ll see against the elite teams)... the game against Baylor next week (fingers crossed that it doesn’t get canceled) will say a lot because at this moment they look to be well behind Stanford and Louisville. It was crazy to see a UConn team that just looked basic (holiday rust maybe?)...

"We tried to shoot ourselves in the head tonight and we missed that" - Geno

He was not happy at all with the offense. Shot 40% from the field, 30% from 3 and 50% from the stripe. IMO, they got a ton of good looks and missed everything. Paige was indecisive on the offensive end and passed up too many open shots. Ono has upped her game significantly but as @JayQueUK notes we won't know how good she really is until she is challenged physically. Edwards looks like an unstoppable force.

Yes! I meant to mention Edwards because I also came away really impressed with her as well!! Also, after I came here to talk about Beuckers, she showed her freshman side in the 2nd half lol but was still the better player on the floor even with that

Once he gets Fudd, Ducharme, and DeBerry to go along with Edwards and Beuckers, they’ll be hard to stop the next 3 years. I’m glad South Carolina will be stacked because after this year, UCONN will be extremely good.

Kentucky will now play Miss State this Sunday instead of Tennessee.. UK will open up SEC play with #10 Ark, #12 Miss St, #9 A&M, and #4 South Carolina all back to back... they are going to learn if they are legit or pretenders real fast

Just like early last season Makarat is once again shooting 0 for everything. I have to believe that if she doesn't start making some shots soon she will be benched.

Benched? By that you mean not starting or not playing?

In my day, benching meant not playing and I doubt that is what is going to happen.

You are right. I meant pulled from the starting lineup. Maybe that would shake her up. She is doing other things to help the team but she is not doing what they need. The only problem is who would replace her.

Bummed we’re sitting today but lots of great basketball being played! Looking forward to several games slated for today. Hoping our staff and team get well quickly.

Aaliyah is coming on. She is the unstoppable force and as she learns the offense someone is going to have to give up some minutes. Three or four from Anna. Three or four from E. Two or three from Liv and Aaliyah will be playing 25 minutes a game. Everyone will stay fresh and ready to give maximum effort.
