I think he's really, really struggling being a head coach. If he was the defensive coordinator I think the defense would be lightyears better than it is. His record shows that. It isn't as though he was just at Bama. Dude has fielded top defenses at FSU, GA, and Bama. He knows how to coach defense. I think he can't manage being a head coach. That's my opinion.I question if Pruitt is in fact a good defensive coach because he’s yet to establish an identity on his side of the ball. All the great coaches do. He hasn’t done that yet.
It's all relative. Florida wasn't in good shape...by their standards. Tennessee and Florida's rosters were actually comparably talented in 2017, but Florida has nowhere near the tarnished brand or incompetent administration that we do. They have more of a gangster mentality that the good football schools do, and we don't.You clearly don’t follow it close enough. Florida was not in good shape when Mullen took over
The whole let's find the good narrative gets old He is a horrible CEO and that isn't changing. Idc what kind of position coach he is, that doesn't matter anymore.I question if Pruitt is in fact a good defensive coach because he’s yet to establish an identity on his side of the ball. All the great coaches do. He hasn’t done that yet.
I'm hoping against all hope it is because they were horrible at handling the covid year, and that if we don't have that craziness in 2021, we'll see real development and improvement. AP has said they didn't handle the covid stuff well, and that they have said that stuff also in public and behind the scenes. He said earlier today that in the summer they didn't even think football would be played. Sounds like they didn't plan well for it and didn't really know how to handle it.There’s one problem though no body is developing.
His defenses at UGA weren’t that good and he was at FSU for one year with mark stoops players. He’s not that good and the Saban defense has been figured outI think he's really, really struggling being a head coach. You are putting a lot of stock in very young players trying to play the bulk of snaps and make an impact in this league at positions where it just simply doesn’t happen all that often.Being a 5 in a group of threes isn't exactly good though. Eason, Young and Brooks should come close and imo with more PT Roman should develop well.
Pruitt is a good button-pusher. When you give him good ingredients and a good recipe, he makes a very good meal. I know that sounds like an insult but it really isn't - it still takes skill to make the meal even if you've got good ingredients and good directions that come from a boss.I question if Pruitt is in fact a good defensive coach because he’s yet to establish an identity on his side of the ball. All the great coaches do. He hasn’t done that yet.
He improved the defense tremendously from what they were at UGA to what they were when he left. That is undeniable. I get it, you hate Pruitt, but let's not rewrite history because we're upset. The numbers don't lie.His defenses at UGA weren’t that good and he was at FSU for one year with mark stoops players. He’s not that good and the Saban defense has been figured out
It’s not going to be easy but no kid out there chooses a school based off the same reason as the next kid..... Pruitt and his staff will have to sell the h&ll out of their vision..... figure out what makes the kid tick and get enough quality kids in that we start growing the program.Top talent isn’t gonna walk in the door and just play for Tennessee. I could see them having a good shot if Tennessee had a good year but at 3-7 and the program is a mess you can’t just offer playing time. Kids want to win and often. Simply not the case at Tennessee. The one kid they want in the class at QB is choosing between Tennessee, Bama, and Clemson. 2 of which have Heisman winners or finalists.
I agree with that. I think the way he “called” games at bama and FSU point to this. Easy to be creative with exotic blitzes when you always have a great front 7.Pruitt is a good button-pusher. When you give him good ingredients and a good recipe, he makes a very good meal. I know that sounds like an insult but it really isn't - it still takes skill to make the meal even if you've got good ingredients and good directions.
I think he's ill-suited to going somewhere else and making it himself though.
The argument was Mullen didn’t have to “rebuild”. Which is simply wrong. I think they were in better shape than us but not by a whole lot. Maybe this board didn’t pay attention to Florida in 2017 but they were close to dumpster fire. They tried to fire Mac with cause because he said him and his staff had been receiving death threatsIt's all relative. Florida wasn't in good shape...by their standards.
