Recruiting Forum Football Talk III

Lol you clearly don’t follow football closely outside of Tennessee if you don’t know how badly Mac left Florida. He won the East because of how bad it was at the time. Butch literally handed it to him 2 years in a row. The difference is Florida fired him when they should have instead of waiting a year too long
I follow football plenty. If anyone on here agrees with you that Fla has been close to the mess that we have here in the last 10 years they are lying to you.

Yeah, I have no appetite for this. What you're describing is a 6 win roster at best. And that's you being optimistic!

I may check-in occasionally, but this mediocre program is not getting any more of my time. To the MLB and NBA forums I go.
Unless the QB proves to be a stud I agree

3 isn't going to work. As Hubbs has said, it isn't the fans who stopped that hire. It was government and boosters calling them out on twitter and behind the scenes. It was the emails from high level donors, not the fans protesting.

As for 4, it was said by Doug Matthews this morning, they know that fans are going to watch no matter what. Fans will show up, fans will watch on TV, they are going to make their money. Even if every fan on VN tunes out, they wouldn't even notice.

Simple.

Not going to waste my Saturdays watching the same sh*t show hoping for different results.

The clowns in the administration office don’t care about the fans nor the program’s future.

Anybody else is free to do what they want but I’m done with it until Pruitt is gone.

I’ll continue to hang out on this board discussing other topics instead of football.

The majority were seniors that should have been gone anyways or walk ins..... Pruitt will have to do a really good job selling his vision to this next years recruiting class.... hopefully..... a good in state class makes it easier.

Top talent isn’t gonna walk in the door and just play for Tennessee. I could see them having a good shot if Tennessee had a good year but at 3-7 and the program is a mess you can’t just offer playing time. Kids want to win and often. Simply not the case at Tennessee. The one kid they want in the class at QB is choosing between Tennessee, Bama, and Clemson. 2 of which have Heisman winners or finalists.

Lol the fans are why boosters and government called them out in the first place though.

And sure of course they will. Im just talking about everyone individually. Do yourselves a favor and tune out next year. Basketball will be special. That'll hold ya, promise.

Sooo...see you tomorrow?

If not, can I have your likes?

Aight, so we ain't firing Pruitt. We can do one of two things: we can complain about it and have no affect on anything except negative recruiting, or we can try and theorize on how Pruitt might have some success next year.

I still believe that Pruitt is a good defensive coach. Dude didn't forget how to coach defense. He'll have an entire year (barring anymore covid nonsense) to get that straightened out. I believe he will. Morven Joseph will get his first spring as will other players on the defense. Aaron Willis will be here also and he should help with the middle of the defense in his first year (If Pruitt will play the newcomers). Key Lawrence played the majority of the A&M game, he'll be a starter next year adding much needed speed and talent to the defensive backfield. TM also played a ton this year and I think we'll see more of him as well. Tank was injured the majority of the year, he'll be healthy next year and will be a good player. We have some good young talent in that defensive backfield with TM, Slaughter, Key, Rucker, Burrell, and others who will have a lot of time to develop. If we can figure that middle of the field problem out, defense should be okay. As for pass rush, we have to hope they can get some development in these young players such as Baron, Joseph, and Brooks who will be here. We need Brooks to be legit. Crouch will probably also move back to OLB. Maybe he can take advantage of his first fully healthy year.

On offense, we'll have a better QB in 2021. Be that HB, Salter, or a transfer, the signal caller will be the best we've had since Dobbs. It's about time. But this coaching staff needs to let them play. Stop handcuffing them. HB was handcuffed at times this year, which is stupid considering how smart he is and accurate in delivering the football. But we need to make some changes to this staff. Weinke needs to go, no matter what. Is Chaney the problem? if so, replace him. If it isn't him but Pruitt's meddling, then Pruitt needs to let Chaney do his job and run this offense. I prefer replacing Chaney.

But there is also good talent on this offense. Hyatt is going to be a star if we don't waste him. I'm confident that Wideman and Calloway will be good here. If Velus Jones comes back, and he should, he can be really good next year. I think Princeton Fant can be a good pass catching TE with a real QB throwing him the ball. I also love what we have in Miles Campbell coming in. At RB, we know what we have in Gray, but now we're adding a bruiser in Brown, and a guy who may be the best back in this class in Evans coming in. RB is going to be really good. Hopefully we'll have an OL coach who can actually develop this OL because with Mays coming back, there is a lot of talent on this offensive line as well.

We have some pieces. Pruitt needs to fix this defense and let his coaches do their job. And we have to hope that Bailey/Salter/transfer can lift this program. We would have been no worse than 5-5 with decent QB play this year. So we'll see what happens next year.

That's all I got for optimism on this Wednesday. Tl/dr version: let's hope that Pruitt can do what he hasn't shown any ability to do thus far.
I question if Pruitt is in fact a good defensive coach because he’s yet to establish an identity on his side of the ball. All the great coaches do. He hasn’t done that yet.

Do you guys remember an old SNL skit they did when Will Ferrell was cast member? It was a commercial for a drug called Homosil, and the hook was that it made you not care that your son was effiminate and horrible at sports and would rather cook creme brulee etc....

Can we get the FDA to approve a similar drug just for Vol fans called Suckasil, so we can cheer them on but don't care how badly they suck?

Disagree. He was easily our most explosive rusher. He was inconsistent but at least he flashed and has the build you want. At the very least you’re losing a returning starter that would be in the 2 deep. We simply don’t have enough bodies there let alone production returning.
Being a 5 in a group of threes isn't exactly good though. Eason, Young and Brooks should come close and imo with more PT Roman should develop well.

You clearly don’t follow it close enough. Florida was not in good shape when Mullen took over
