A NC this won because of him and they went 3-9 the year before Gus took over

A NC that was won bc of Cam Newton.

Yes they went 3-9 the year before. And 8-5 before that. And 14-0 before that.

Also after that first season of great success, he never showed any progress or improvement. Actually regression.

Isn’t that a big sticking point with Pruitt?

Sark wasn’t groomed under Saban, he was groomed under Carroll, he was brought in to bring the high profile USC offense to Bama when Kiffen left. Sark would probably do well here with his connections to the West Coast.

There’s a big difference between being one of Saban’s guys and beings a paid assassin. IMO

Sark - like almost any coach - will look all world with 3-deep NFL talent all over the field. He did at the USC cheating days and he does at the Bama cheating days now.

Like every other Bama assistant, put him on a level playing field and he reverts back to mediocrity. Every. Single. Time.

Be it coaching, recruiting, whatever. You can’t get away with what Bama gets away with at every school.

If CJP stays we are gonna suck for the foreseeable future. If he goes and we bring in some one else we are still gonna suck for the foreseeable future.

Basically with the state the program is in, we are gonna suck for the foreseeable future.

I’ll be a casual fan until I die, but I’m writing off planning my Saturdays around football for awhile. I would suggest others do as well for mental health sake. It’s like losing a friend and it is depressing, but continuing to watch the weekly beat downs isn’t good for my health anymore and I’m over watching Bama and Clemson win national championships.
Be sure you don't try to jump back on the bandwagon when we are winning again.....TN is better off with fans such as yourself mowing the lawn or cutting back the rosebushes while the Vols are competing on Saturdays in the fall......good riddance

Lol. He’s been there a total of like 3 years out of a +20 year career. The whole “No more Saban disciples” BS is a completely irrational criteria for choosing a coach, especially when it applies to someone that has spent approximately 15% of their career there.
Explain, please. How many Saban disciples have worked out for us? Dooley - nope. Pruitt - nope.

BTW - The word disciple does not have a time frame in the definition. Its a follower.

Rebuilds don’t take 4-5 years anymore. Especially at established programs. The problem was not taking the next step and regressing in year 3 and even more throughout the season. He went 8-5 and shoulda gone 9-3 in the regular season in year 2. He went 3-7 this year and blown out by anyone with a pulse and he’s lucky he played Mizzou week two instead of in November like we usually do
For curiosity, who has rebuilt in 3 years or less?

Expectations aren't lower here. We just hired a guy and everyone acknowledged we were a dumpster fire and needed a talent overhaul. Everyone acknowledged it was a 4-5 year rebuild.

Yet after year three we're trying to run the coach off.

Tennessee fans are delusional with their expectations. If anything, expectations are ridiculously high here.
It’s not just any year 3 though, right? The fact is we had a record year in losing, a defensive year that has never happened in the HISTORY of the University of Tennessee. Plus a coach so unwilling to change that he kept a kid at QB that is a nice kid, but a horrible QB on game day because he doesn’t like change. How about he actually coach and take a chance a new QB? He micro managed the offense and defense. He has guys that can recruit like crazy but can’t develop a kid to save their lives. He wants yes men, that’s not what we need at Tennessee my friend.

He has Mac Jones( round 1-2) Devonta Smith round 1..... najee Harris ( round 1-2).... I think every starter is projected to be drafted at some point..... Bama is loaded.
Bama offensive position groups are better than any team they will play. Clemson might have a better QB, and you could argue OSU, but not well. No team is close to them at RB, OL or WR.

My biggest cause of concern is that Mizzou is a little bit more battle tested than our Vols. How do these freshmen respond to a little adversity? I think having very few fans in the stands helps. We need to hit the long ball consistently.
i don't disagree, though i don't think we HAVE to hit a bunch of 3's. if we can continue to build on those 12-15' jump shots from the elbows/inside the arc, that will open things up elsewhere. VB and JJJ should be pretty big on that front. they need to be consistent from that range.

inside, we just have to make more shots. we've gotten a lot of really great looks and just missed the dang bucket too much.

the offense will come, hopefully, and i'm glad we got a couple of games under our belt where they saw shots drop like they did against USC upstate and tech.....just need a little confidence in the shot, i think.

still, i expect this game to be a white knuckle game....so sit back, relax and save the angst for that last 3 minutes, where i expect it will still be w/in 3 possessions, either way.

I just want to know whether he is back or not already...

If he is, then I can go ahead and start rationalizing it and we can go back into recruiting mode

If not, then the excitement for a new coach will be through the roof... and hopefully won’t be crushed by a bad hire

@Atlanta VOL you wanna throw us a cryptic gif to give us some juice?
No he doesn’t. He would have contributed already if something was happening with Pruitt. It’s not, Pruitt will be our coach in 2021.
A group here starts saying something is going on for the next day and then... nothing happens. They are just messing with our emotions now. It’s been going on now since the ATM game.

“It’ll happen the Sunday after we get beat my A&M!”

Nothing.

“It’ll be Monday at the earliest.”

Nothing.

“They will fire him before Christmas so he can just stay home.”

Nothing but we find out Pruitt has Covid.

“Well they won’t fire him over Christmas break and over zoom so it’ll be the 30th earliest but could be waiting on the investigation to end.”

Enter Dec. 30th

“12pm-4pm will be the timeframe if they fire him today.

Just pulling some legs here but it just seems this is all fan built drama and speculation to ultimately be dumped on.

He's not.
It's not 4:00 yet.

*Let it play out friend. Until JP starts hiring assistant coaches, then firing him is still a possibility.

**There's nothing to say JP is for sure gone or back for another season yet.

I guessed there would be news either way yesterday and was proven wrong. It didn't hurt anything. Hope's became a part of the off season around here and has been for years.

I’ve been watching this program since the mid-80’s, going to games as a kid with my grandparents, and been a donor and season ticket holder for damn near 20 years.

All due respect, but you can STFU. The very fact anyone still thinks it is even possible to have bandwagon fans at this point is the height of stupidity...in fact, it is stupidity with wings.

The team won’t be competing on Saturday in the Fall for a long time. This goes beyond a coach, or getting good players. Those are the symptoms. The illness is incompetent leadership and a stubborn unwillingness to make winning a priority over everything else. Until that is changed I will be on here talking football and I will follow the team, but as for actually caring, donating, etc? I’m out.

Y'all don't think two of the players closets to Pruitt sending out those prayer like tweets is just a coincidence do ya

Because it’s obvious he isn’t building. A rebuild does not include 7 blowout losses, including to KY and Arkansas in year 3. If he went 6-4 this year nobody would be calling for his head. But he went 3-7 and was completely uncompetitive with everyone
