A lot on here dont like Pruitt, and even dislike him beyond Butch, and thats fine, but I am not one of those people. Butch was a trumpet blowing, carnival barking con man, that knew nothing about football. I think Pruitt knows football, he just doesn't know how to manage a team and the coaches underneath him, much less anything outside of football that comes with the job, and he is a very, very stubborn man.

Those are the main difference between the two. Similarities are their results are about the same on the field, which is ultimately what gets you fired.

I have no ill will towards Pruitt. He just wasn't up for the job. Again, the root of the problem always has been our admin/boosters. Until that gets fixed the HC position won't either.
Butch is a better football coach than Pruitt. I don’t see how that’s debatable at this point.

Can’t blame him for leaving then. Just like no one could blame Wolfe for flipping to Ole Miss.

This is also the reason it was silly of posters to think Arik Gilbert would transfer here if he even transfers.

While I agree you can’t blame him, his best asset is to block. I always remember his fumble against UF in 2018 when I think of him. He isn’t really a great pass catching TE.

I’m shocked at the lack of passes to the TE, too, but I do that will change going forward.

Napier may be a good coach but I just don't know. He hasn't proven enough yet. It wouldn't be a home run hire for me. Now if we went out and got Kiffin back then we could all rejoice.

Anyone worth paying attention to has repeatedly said UT would not take a chance on Freeze.

Take the win, which was apparently that Chris Low said it's still possible Pruitt is fired this year.
the only way it's a win is with the hire. we didn't win by simply firing firing fulmer, dooley or Jones, did we?

We better hope Sark is the route we go and that he would take the job. We are a loser program with a loser AD and this search could get ugly fast.
I like Sark and would be happy with him but if he is truly off the sauce he will steer clear of this job. He will be an even bigger alcoholic when we are done with him.

You can have a blocking TE that you design and run plays for 3-4 times per game. That’s prob all it would take to appease the guy.

Throw him the ball in some short yardage and goal line situations and he likely stays considering he’s saying he wants to be in an O where the TE is more involved.

Plus you give the defense more to think about. Have him stay in like he’s blocking and then leak out. Works in the NFL like 99% of the time. Just a few times per game. Football is a copycat game. Not sure why we don’t incorporate this.

it would be great....kiffin is #1 on any list for me.

but there's zero chance fulmer ever even makes that call.....that would have to be forced on him, and even then i'm not sure how that would all play out behind the scenes. it'd be messy i'd guess, and ultimately, it just wouldn't happen.

freeze was/is a pipe dream.

the candidate list, if there is to be one, is the same as it was for USCe and Auburn, give or take a name or two.

I think HB targeted the TE’s more in 3 games than we did the entire season. Given the way that the game has evolved and that the Tight end position has become such a big time weapon in offenses in the NFL, how do you not try to mimic that? FFS look at Kyle Pitts. He’s a freak talent, but we don’t need a freak talent. We need a red zone threat and a safety valve . That’s it.
