“I believe as what I have been told the decision was made last night. VolHarley, said everyone has their opinions and he believed it got all ironed out late last night. Few feathers got ruffled but majority came together for what’s best for Tennessee football. Wish I could tell more but probably said too much. I know I’ll get blasted as the great John Ward use to say. It’s par for the course on this site. Enjoy the day gentlemen! It’s 81 and sunny here on Miami Beach! 🍊

That Sexton post tells us absolutely nothing. No crap, there's things going on behind the scenes. Tennessee's AD (the dept) isn't stupid enough to not squash rumors and intrigue if they know 100% he's coming back.

The media questioned his decision making and he got defensive.

When you’re a winner, you can say what you want because the results speak for themselves.

That’s why nobody cares if Saban is an ass to the media because they know he can back it up.

Pruitt can’t.
You lose a game.... you are pissed..... they force you to do a show that you don’t want to do..... you have these little pencil neck non-athletic geeks asking you the same type of idiotic questions each week..... I don’t blame him for having attitude..... as fans of the program..... if we are losing we are mad when he takes blames...... talks about position groups that struggle or anything else.... his press conferences was some of my favorite Pruitt moments..... like when they asked why shrout didn’t get more reps earlier in the year.... Jeremy said bc he wasn’t the QB. LOL

I choose to believe

Agree. And as a result...

Isn't that kind of like a football coach who doesn't learn new things and make changes in his system as it begins to fail consistently? Or a software business owner with a product that sold well 10 years ago that does not even need to exist now, yet he/she still tries to sell it. Or in your case, an attorney who was really good in his/her specialty of law, but who failed to stay current with research of case law and as applicable laws were added/modified?

Hubbs could have made better decisions with his business.

I don't disagree, but he has done quite well. On the night of his famous "Guys, it's true" line, I realized then how much Brent Hubbs made. It was unreal.

Recruiting is still a big business. Additionally, I would assume he has to think twice about adding an "analyst" that would criticize coaches, players, etc. because of his relationship to the UTAD (although Tim Priest has gotten good at it- haha).

What decision?

Because the last time there was a job search at UT it cost several administrators their jobs.

A 3-7 season isn't costing them their jobs. Another Schiano-level fiasco might.

One of my old profs (Doc Schroedl for any of you who took Intro to Archaeology from him...) once told me that "Universities are corporations masquerading as medieval institutions" and also that "They are fundamentally risk-averse." As soon as I wrapped my head around those two truths, the easier it has been for me to operate as an employee. I've been a student and employee of three state universities and they are all the same. Administrators are happy with the status quo as long as they're getting paid. They won't get nervous until enrollment and donations suffer.
Corporations masquerading as medieval institutions....love that!

McGill off the top rope

From a poster on VQ...

“ Just spoke to someone very close to Jimmy Sexton. Sexton told him a lot is going on behind the scenes. If Pruitt is replaced, they want the new coach announced very quickly as last search gave UT a black eye. Freeze has not been written off by UT and he would be in play.

I asked a few questions to which he said
“Jimmy is very careful and does not divulge much, even to me.” Believe me, he is real close Sexton.”

The "believe me" line really gives it away he's trolling, goodness.

I consider Fulmer to be a top HC. As an AD, everyone in the AD has faith in him and has handed him the keys to bring UT back to powerhouse. But I think he's let his ego take over. He wants to prove to everyone that he's the right guy and he can "mentor" Pruitt along. He listened to the fanbase in 08 for a new exciting offense and that backfired on him.
No, in 08 he wouldn’t let the new OC do his job without meddling. Sounds like a pattern to me. 🤔

LOL why would gump still want to be here when he is clearly over his head, pisses his colleagues off and knows they don't respect him, his record is crap, and knows the fans want him gone because he's regressed the program instead of moving it forward...?

If nothing is changing nothing will be said. Consider for a moment that the only people debating a coaching change are the bored and board fans.
And potential coaches and potential recruits.

If it was all in our imagination, I'm confident the VQ guys would tell us. They love saying the fans are crazy conspiracy theorists.
