We did win 8 a year ago and now we should have Bailey all year..... a more veteran team with possibly better talent since we weren’t really able to get the younger guys involved as much due to no off season.

Pruitt can’t beat anyone with a pulse.

He gets owned by better teams.

I see what your saying and hopefully it works that way. However this year's team was the most veteran team we could have possibly had.

He likely did. AP listed those names and said “you could go right down the line” of the guys he called.

Hate it for some of you but Hubbs said a number of those kids were glad to get the call to.

Seems the players and recruits don’t hate CJP as much as you all.

So what exactly is your stance on JP right now? Surely you don't think this guy, after how low he's taken this program in 3yrs, is all of a sudden magically turn it around in year 4?

Could be a big reason why we’ll see a renewed focus on in-state recruiting. And apparently that’s part of JP’s pitch for next year?

But if you mix a bunch more TN kids in with the ‘20 class then you have a nucleus on the team that cares about UT. Or I’m assuming that’s what they’re hoping for, at least.

We've missed out on a number of in-state recruits in the past few years and turned away others who're helping other schools strengthen their pipeline into TN. This hasn't gone unnoticed, and I think the renewed focus on in-state recruiting has been pushed from above. And we've known for a while that the '22 in-state class is really good with some players we need to lock down early.

Folks, I’ve been of the mind that we need to move on from Pruitt, but it doesn’t look like that is happening. I plan on being a Vol fan until I die. I’m 42 years old, and Lord willing I have 30-40 years left to watch the Vols. If they stick with Pruitt, I can wait and see if the guy can turn it around or not. We all know two things. 1. The right coach changes everything. 2. A great QB changes everything.

I’m not worried about “getting further behind” our rivals if we delay firing Pruitt. The two above facts can erase that gap quickly.

Just another blunder in a long list of reasons to cut ties with Pruitt

One of the complaints has been that Fulmer has not stayed in his lane either
I’ve heard that too. Some people on here that know stuff says it’s true, others do not. This whole things seems like one big damn mess. I really hope that Phil isn’t the issue, but if he is then it’s time for everyone to get on the same page and move on to the next chapter.

you both are talking about a program that didn't go 3-7 the previous season.

he wins 8 games next year, with the staff turnover, the roster turnover, new QB and just the perception of TN football right now, and the criticism he personally has endured... etc......

lol. there'll be some out there talking about potential coy stuff. the story would be "what a turnaround, gotta give pruitt a lot of credit for turning that around, especially after how toxic the end of 2020 was".

and remember............the whole point is to fix it. it does not matter who fixes it. just that it happens.

now, debating whether or not pruitt is capable of doing that, fair game...my confidence isn't high. but if he does.....gonna be hard to argue against it.
Yep...... it was less than a year ago.... people were worried about him leaving us for Bama lol

Seems that way. I won’t go hard in the paint defending him. Other than to say I’d like to see what he can do with a QB.

Seems to me every coach is mediocre until they get a legit QB.

Should he, in year 3, have had a better QB? Sure, but that’s another discussion.

We might have one now in Bailey. Salter looks like a future star.

I mean, everyone wants to point to Arkansas and yeah their turnaround was impressive. But what anchored it? QB play. Felipe Franks completed almost 70% of his passes and had a 17-4 td/int ratio.

Put JG on Arkansas and they’re a 1-2 win team.

Could we have had significant better qb play? sure. However, all of our losses were by double digits. We sucked all over the field and it seems like every position group regressed. I mean as bad as our defense was gashed this year we could have had Lawrence out there and maybe it makes a game or 2 difference?

Receivers still have to get off the ball, lineman and rb's cant whiff on blocks, etc.. This was a HISTORICALLY bad offense ranked in the 100's in just about every category. Thats not because of just a qb. Probably a mixture of all those things I mentioned plus boring play calling.

Just feels like all this speculation is so avoidable.

If Pruitt is returning they've got to come out and support him. Pruitt himself needs to address the fanbase that's lost faith in him. What is his plan for making this right? Convince everybody that you're the coach and you're in it for the long haul. There is a path here but we can't sit on our hands anymore if this is the direction we're headed.

All this "well it's christmas and the university is closed, so everyone is on vacation" and "the right people haven't met yet" comments are bs. College football is a year round competition. Every minute you are letting this noise go on it's hurting Pruitt in recruiting/staff changes/current players transfer decisions. Perception is reality. This stuff will ultimately effect the product on the field.

This is the mistake they made after Butch was fired. They acted like the opinion of the fans didn't matter and tried to shove Schiano down our throats after speculation was far out of control. It didn't work and it appears they haven't learned the lesson. They created that mess by assuming we weren't part of the equation. It backfired and they looked like fools. We all did in a lot of ways. It made this job undesirable and was shameful for Tennessee. And then here we are again. Unbelievable.

Make. A. Decision.
