I believe the '01 SEC Championship loss cursed us. Looked at my buddy, right as clock went to zero, and told him we would feel that for awhile. Here we are 20 yrs later, and the Vols TRULY haven't fielded a relevant team since. Saban beat us that night, and his rise at Bama has been our demise. Whenever he started at Bama, they led the series by only 5 games...now look. Something about that loss still lingers, imo.

The investigation news broke just after kickoff of the A&M game (our last game) on December 19th. Our bowl was announced on December 20th (not exactly early December) which is when Fulmer commented/mentioned CJP at sorting practice in 2021. Not sure where you're trying to go with this thought process but that is the time-line.

I'm not trying to go anywhere with it. I am saying that Fulmer has not giving a blanket endorsement about CP being back next year, yet. Not necessarily concerned about time line.

His options were likely:
-return to ARK for another year
-transfer to a lower level of football

But it’s gotta be nice to keep depth for next season.
