Got $800 k back.UT is already overpaying the entire staff and is going to have to continue to overpay no matter what... or when. It's the cumulative effect of doing what UT has done for years.
Agents now strike previously unstrikable clauses and demand no mitigation clauses as a matter of course. They have the leverage and use it mercilessly. Precedent has been set, and the genie isn't going back in the bottle. The upcoming TV money will make it worse.
So why not shut the program down a few years and come back with a new plan. It may be the best option at this point. It's clearly not getting any better here until something drastic happens.
Oh there's definitely a HUGE problem in CFB. A lot needs to be done to even the playing field. I hope we get 8 team playoffI would rather see equal enforcement of infractions and investigations from the NCAA and SEC. The Bama/Clemson/OSU/UGA stranglehold on the talent consolidation isn’t going anywhere on its own.
I really feel like if fans of UT, and other schools, at least felt like there was a chance every year to compete there would be more patience with these matters.
more reasons why my confidence in anything really awesome coming out of all this is really low.....UT is already overpaying the entire staff and is going to have to continue to overpay no matter what... or when. It's the cumulative effect of doing what UT has done for years.

I agree. My wife and I was discussing season tickets the other day. I just can't justify it at this time. I've been supporting for the past 10 years and its all its done is got me a beer belly.I think what you’re gonna see are more people just watching from homes rather than planning a day around travel, getting in and out of Fort Sanders, and sweating ass in the stands for noon kickoffs in September and early October.
I know that I have no interest in making that drive to watch opposing fans treat a game day like a pleasant stop on their way to Gatlinburg. And I damned sure ain’t buying season tickets any time soon.

Iowa State's AD (I think) made the same point, and I think it's completely valid. Is anybody planning on watching the playoffs? I’m cynical as can be and just over it.
Wife and family are Bama fans, I told her for all “non-every-year-playoff-team” fans, this ‘ish is already old.
I made reservations to a really nice place this Friday not even realizing it was the playoffs. I told her we should skip the first round, go out to eat, and I will watch the final with her....I told her I’ll save you the trouble and just expect it to be Bama and Clemson again for the finals and the Bama game this weekend will be over by halftime just like every other weekend this year.
Anyway, she still wants me to re-schedule the reservation and stay home and watch the game with her.
I’m seriously thinking of going out to eat by myself. I’m not watching the same stupid BS again this year and Bama winning another. I’m over it and pretty much checked out on college football at this point.
Doing that s*** for Pruitt is inexcusable. JP should have been thankful to even sniff this job. He and his agent should have been left at the Krystal on Cumberland mid-interview if they pushed for a lot. I'd rather us hire Tee for a fair price than go back to Jimmy Sexton and take what he will give us.
Heck, I'm sure Sexton is Tee's agent too but the point remains.
