It has to be consistent bad attendance. For some reason the administration is always 400K steps behind. They are never proactive always reactionary. We always wait one year too long to fire a bad coach. By then it's pretty much burned to the ground. No young talent, upperclassmen are moving on. It has to be totally rebuilt, not simply a remodel. The new guy can't build on what the old guy left. That severely limits the pool of coaches that can be hired and makes you overpay for whatever coach does want to come here. Agents have all the leverage so the contracts are written to where it's almost impossible to get rid of a coach therefore holding on to them longer than you'd really like to. It's a cycle that someone over there thinks makes sense.will it though?
feel like we did this in 05, 08, 11, 12, 17....and we're still having the same conversation.
and fans keep going to games, despite it all. the last time i think i remember game day crowds being a real issue was when there were more bama fans in the stands than TN fans in Dooley's last season. past that............
so why is it/should it be different this time?
my guess? it won't be.
I think you guys overestimate Brent Hubbs business sense. He’s just a fan who’s been covering UT sports since he was a kid. He mentioned Freeze’s name because that’s all anyone talks about lately.c'mon Ron....you know better than that, and what it means to drive traffic on that site, or any site for that matter.
Mine is orange, power T and Rocky Top...things I love. Then Sweet As Soda separated so no one gets confused!Aight, here's something to hold us over until we get some news one way or the other. Hopefully it's coming today.
Your avi? Why did you choose it? Mine's obvious. Smokey wants Freeze in Knoxville. What about yours?
i tend to agree, as far as what the plan likely is. is that what happens? no way to know. you can't follow up 3-7, 15ish transfers out, losing out on your biggest recruits, and investigation on recruiting violations regarding a recruit you didn't even land....with a 5-7ish campaign that likely involves more blow out losses to the usual suspects and a couple of others that leave you scratching your head.If he’s back next year, I’d be willing to bet it is for ‘21 and ‘22.
I think it's funny that a chicken has their head stuck in a KFC bucket. I think it's also funny we are all still Tennessee fans after the last decade.Aight, here's something to hold us over until we get some news one way or the other. Hopefully it's coming today.

I get it, but literally every one of those hires has been underwhelming. At this point we can't afford to make another underwhelming hire. This one has to be right, maybe it is better to wait..... Just playing devil's advocate for discussion. And that is the root cause of BVS.
It’s “Dumpster fire part 3: the sequel “ and seeing the first 2 , we have a good idea how this one ends.
Meanwhile we see half the other teams in the SEC making the call to end similar situations when they arise.
Prospects also don't want to play for a bad team which is why even though we had relationships with TID, Green, Mims, and Mondon. We struck out, 0/4, and additionally lost two of our best recruits in McGhee and Wolfe (won't count Lewis here--but include him if you want as well.
It all starts with coaches and coaching. You need wins and development above all else. If you develop players and win ballgames, you will get recruits--especially as an SEC team

Everyone has said we don't have the money to fire him but the reality is we've had two head coaches on the payroll since we fired Dooley. If you add those two numbers up, I'm not sure we don't have the highest coaching salary in all of football.
I've always said these hiring/firing decisions are made on a spreadsheet. One thing they always plug in is IT fan loyalty. Until that data set changes and shows red numbers at the bottom, they won't change their thinking.
So why not shut the program down a few years and come back with a new plan. It may be the best option at this point. It seems to be getting exponentially worse and it's clearly not getting any better here until something drastic happens.UT is already overpaying the entire staff and is going to have to continue to overpay no matter what... or when. It's the cumulative effect of doing what UT has done for years.
Agents now strike previously unstrikable clauses and demand no mitigation clauses as a matter of course. They have the leverage and use it mercilessly. Precedent has been set, and the genie isn't going back in the bottle. The upcoming TV money will make it worse.
College Football is broken. Its become very top-heavy and non-inclusive. My interest in CFB becomes less and less each year. It helps that my Chiefs are on top of the world right now or else I would be very down on football in general. Is anybody planning on watching the playoffs? I’m cynical as can be and just over it.
Wife and family are Bama fans, I told her for all “non-every-year-playoff-team” fans, this ‘ish is already old.
I made reservations to a really nice place this Friday not even realizing it was the playoffs. I told her we should skip the first round, go out to eat, and I will watch the final with her....I told her I’ll save you the trouble and just expect it to be Bama and Clemson again for the finals and the Bama game this weekend will be over by halftime just like every other weekend this year.
Anyway, she still wants me to re-schedule the reservation and stay home and watch the game with her.
I’m seriously thinking of going out to eat by myself. I’m not watching the same stupid BS again this year and Bama winning another. I’m over it and pretty much checked out on college football at this point.
that's fine, and i'm not really disagreeing with you there. If it were for clicks he’d publish articles with no new information all the time and tweet them out like those guys at 247.
