Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2025-26

Evina is really doing a great job, with 2 games she averaging 30 minutes playing time and scoring 2 points.
On a positive note, she has low turnovers and quite a few assists. I see many more NC for UConn in the coming years.

Right now this UConn team is Evina's team. Perhaps it develops into Paige's team but now she is the unquestioned leader on the floor. The spotlight is on the freshmen, but it's Evina who leads. She brings intensity to the defense and as far as scoring, I've seen her give up a number of open shots to another player. IMO she is the missing piece Geno needed to provide senior leadership which she willingly accepts. It's obvious her knee is slowing her down and bcause of that I expect that if she gets a good draft position, she is gone after this year.

For those who can stomach seeing the UConn uniform in action and can just appreciate a great basketball player, here are the highlights for Paige Bueckers against Seton Hall Tuesday night.

Saw that former McDonald’s All-American Nyah Green is transferring from Louisville. There was a mention that you all were one of her finalists she chose UofL over.. Perhaps there would still be interest?

Cal transfer 6-0 Kianna Smith is just to good, She just replaced the other Smith in the lineup.

For those who say recruiting rankings are overrated, check out Seton Hall's Lauren Park-Lane. She didn't make it into ESPN's top 100 for her class. She scored 29 of her team's 65 points.

Sadly for her, the UConn freshmen poured in 48 of their team's 92.

As for Evina...

Assist to turnover ratio was 7:1.

Park-Lane (a great name!) was incredibly quick off the dribble, had a great pull up jumper and could hit the three. No one on UConn could guard her.

I noticed Zay Green does not seem to be playing this season for Texas A&M. Including Zaay, they have 3 Greens on the roster.

In some of the videos players posted recently it looks like she has been practicing but with a brace still. Not sure she’s all the way back up to speed with her recovery.

Baylor up 41-19 against an awful Southern team (They lost to Oklahoma St by 34) at the half. If offensive rebounding wasn't allowed, the score would be close to even. Baylor's best offense is to throw up a shot and crash the boards.
Kentucky up 37-35 at the half against DePaul, in a surprisingly low scoring game.

Kentucky going to lose today. Best way to win against them is to play their game against them - Run and Gun and pressure the entire time. It’s laughable that they struggle against the very thing they do lol

Final DePaul 86-82 in a not so low scoring game.

It's not like DePaul was playing out of character. They like to run and gun and pressure as well.

The Blue Demons were given a lot of crap for losing two games and bigtime to Louisville, but now they have a top ten win.

Big East over SEC in this one? Crazy.

Yeah, the scoring really picked up in the second half. DePaul had 51 points after halftime.

Luckily help is on the way starting in the next game. The backup PG spot accounted for 10+ turnovers. Jazz is officially eligible

Lot of teams just got a whole lot better. I'm sure Texas was happy to have Ebo immediately eligible. Will be interesting to see if Zaay Green will suit up this year for TAMU. I swear their entire team is like the Island of Misfit Transfers.
