Dude, then watch them again. This guy is what we need in a big way. He's gonna be good once he gets in our program. I hope Jarvis isn't reading this board and seeing comments like that.

Don't get me wrong, he can play, but I wasn't amazed by any means. He is certainly fast, I'll give him that, but as far as playing on an SEC level, I'm not sure if he could step right in.

If you watch this video, YouTube - Highlights of RB Jarvis Giles, #37 on Takkle/SI's Top 200, you'll see him hit the hole quickly and then simply outrun the (highschool) defense. He does make a few nice cuts, but fails to break any tackles or show any ability to be physical with the football. I see him as a possible third down back, but I haven't seen anything to prove he can be a feature back in the SEC.

As far as an athlete, he looks great. He could make an immediate impact on special teams in the return game, but again, in my opinion, I don't think you will see him dazzle anyone as a tailback against SEC defenses.

I've seen the video. Thanks for the link though. And you have every right to your opinion and I agree with your assessment to a certain extent. I do think Giles brings something to the table that we don't currently have on our roster though, and if Kiffin says he can see the field in some capacity next year, then I believe it. It's hard for anyone to make the transition from High School to College and the guy isn't Reggie Bush yet, that's for sure, but he is very talented and not the #2 APB in the nation by accident. He is highly sought after and would be nothing but an asset to this program.

And keep in mind that recruits do read this board, so be careful what you say. :thumbsup:

Did you guys know Giles has family that lives near Knoxville? I hadn't heard that yet, but that is a huge + for us IMO.

Also I read some of the things he said after he initially committed and he said almost nothing about Fulmer. He was more star struck by Pat Summit than anything else. Just take it FWIW.

My favorite part is the USCe fan who says he hopes Giles hears Rocky Top until he pukes. Obviously, over the years, he's heard it so much when we played them, he thought we just played it throughout the game without cause. His fellow USCe fan pointed out that we play it when we're scoring (and when other big plays happen).

It's understandable given that we've always owned USCe. So, Giles will hear Rocky Top a lot, even if he goes to USCe where he'll hear it throughout the UT-USCe game, only it would be as his team took their annual beatdown from the Vols.

I will be surprised if Giles does not recommit to UT on Tuesday. He was once committed, Drayton is still here, now Reaves is here, he has to got to be impressed with Kiffin, all the other recruits say they have been. He has already dropped Nebraska. I think he is just playing a game and having fun with it. Loving the attention. I think he will be back on our list on Tuesday.

The SC mods said they have talked to him numerous times since our visit friday and that giles was quoted as saying "gamecock nation has nothing to worry about"

I live in SC and all my gamecock fans are feeding me all this stuff. If so I think the kid is just wanting to build drama before he commits to the cocks.

Giles is a real talent and yes I care if we get him...and you should too

Would love to get him but honestly, we are always going to recruit players of his caliber...well traditionally we have...much rather see a few stud DT's, WR's with size and speed and a QB that can throw the long ball and run an offense with CONFIDENCE

May come down to where he thinks playing time comes quicker.... Remember Enrique Davis last year? Everyone thought AU or UT then he signs with Ole Miss on signing day...
