Pruitt Frustrated By Lack of Support

If he wants support beat Kentucky and Georgia State. And start working on beating Georgia and Florida once in a blue moon.

And here is the a part that blew my mind.

"So if Pruitt gets fired, he’ll be paid around $12.48 million. That number is what’s called “hard exposure” by contract nerds. And here’s the most important part: The $12-ish million has no offset. Another job paying Pruitt won’t count against the total, though he has no legal obligation to seek further employment after termination. Pruitt is owed a $4 million base salary in 2021, then $4.2 for the four seasons through 2025 (holy sh** you idiots extended him I will never not pause what I’m doing and marvel at that). In 2021, he’ll also receive a retention bonus of $200,000 and an expenses budget of $36,000."

I always think the admin can't get any worse at negotiating contracts and then.... this part.

That's almost to the penny what Muschamp is getting from SC:

While South Carolina athletic director Ray Tanner goes through the process of negotiating a buyout, the contract apparently guarantees Muschamp all $13 million even if he elects to take another job, according to The State reporter Ben Breiner.

Details of Will Muschamp’s buyout at South Carolina released

I think that's pretty typical in the industry. The thing is for recruiting purposes you have to have your coach under contract for at least 4 yrs. Simply put, it's expensive to screw up a hire

What a surprise, another quote from an unnamed source that you guys get all tore up over. We've got a problem with our fanbase, maybe it's just the way it is in today's society but I don't think we resemble the great fanbase we once were.
I get where you're coming from, but don't think we're any different than any other traditional power would be...LSU, Aub, UF, UGA, etc. In reality, we've stunk it up for so long, and kinda thought we saw light at the end of the tunnel w/ the 8-0 streak, only to get PULLED BACK IN, so, everyone's picking the fly S*** out of the pepper because we're BACK in this "do we fire/when do we fire" our coach AGAIN.

Based on this new Information, I think Pruitt should meet with Fulmer and negotiate a settlement. If you ain't happy ; and WE ain't happy, why the hell are we doing this? Just move back to Tuscaloosa. "When are you going to admit to Tennessee Fans that you just ain't a Head Ball Coach"? (Paraphrased)

Very, very strange response by Pruitt, if true. After 2018 (his first year), everyone was in his corner. This was true even as UT suffered through another losing season at 5-7 and got blown out by WVU, UF, UGA, UA, Mizzou, and Vandy. He really had one nice win, which was over AU, but the rest of the season was Dooley or Butch-like. In 2019, he suffered one of the most shameful losses in program history to Georgia State, not even Dooley or Butch had a loss like that. He perhaps topped that with the BYU loss, which was inexcusable, and we also got blown out UF, UGA, and UA. Even then, almost everyone rallied behind him even then for a winning streak over some pedestrian teams. In 2020 (his third year), he somehow either didn't realize JG wasn't a good option or didn't have anyone ready to play behind him - both coaching problems and this team is perhaps worse than his first year. What else could he possibly expect from us? Should he expect us to cheer him on when he trots JG out there after it is obvious to everyone that he is losing games for the team and killing momentum? I mean, it was like watching Roy "Tin Cup" McAvoy in Tin Cup take the shot and hit the water over and over and over and over again...except it didn't work out the last time. Should he expect us to be excited about getting murdered by UK because he kept playing JG or losing to Arkansas?

For me, I think we would be somewhat restless but understanding if he simply had beat USCe, Mizzou, UK, Arkansas, and Vandy. 5-5 in this strange season would suffice, but 3-7 with huge blowout losses is an entirely other matter.

Even with all of that said, I am of the opinion that we should only make a move if there is a relatively surefire coach who will take the job--like Freeze--or we should just stick with Pruitt given his absurd contract and the lack of other viable options. I mean, if we do not have a truly great coach lined-up, then let's hope he learns on the job. But UT fans always show up and I just don't know what else Pruitt wants from us.

Is there some video of Pruitt making those statements or is this just someone heard from someone else BS. If it isn't recorded somewhere then I call bullsh*t. And I believe the correct usage would be discontented instead of discontent in the context of that statement.
JMHO

By the way Pulaski, I think you mean "couldn't care less."
That too! :) You know there is a recent article about folks who correct other folks grammar on social media, it wasn't very flattering. I'm trying to quit but it's a hard habit to break. I've been doing it too since '93 on Vol message forums.

Even less flattering if you aren't smart enough to understand basic grammar from start

No, our fanbase used to support the football team no matter what their record was or what our chances of winning were. Today's fan cries and whines and could care less about this year's team who coincidently is still playing out the year. The NegaVol faction of our fanbase has put a nasty stain on how our fanbase is now viewed.
There’s not many a fan base that would put up with this. You think Bama, Auburn, LSU, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Arkansas or anyone else for that matter puts up with it? Don’t give me that crap that Tennessee fans expectations are too high. That’s complete and utter garbage and you know it.

Bid farewell to the endless summer of FIRE MALZAHN

I'm not sure what else Jeremy Pruitt thinks he should be given that he does not have at the moment. We're spending top-dollar for assistants and until this disaster of a season he had plenty of fan support around the program. If he is so soft that he is mad fans want him fired after an historically terrible year, I don't know what else to say. At that point, he should just resign and go be a DC.

If this is how Pruitt actually feels, I'm not sure how you can justify giving him another year to tank the program further. Give him his walking papers and let him go be a DC somewhere else if that's what will make him happy.
I believe he would just as soon go back to papa Saban. It would explain a lot.
Wants the money 💰 for getting fired too.
If he actually made that comment and Phil doesn’t fire him , Phil needs to be run out of Knoxville permanent like.
There is a long list of reasons to fire his Bubba Gump azz but will we?

It's got nothing to do about expectations, everyone has them. It's got everything to do with how the NegaVols act, they actually wear their class as a badge of honor.

I’m just exhausted by this tired, recycled narrative that the current shape of the program is largely due to the lack of support from the fans.

It’s unequivocally false, and blaming the fans continues to be the biggest cop out of all.

The expectations of the program by the fanbase is at an all-time low. If Pruitt had just taken care of business against lesser competition, there would not be the outcry you’re seeing right now for a different coach.

I also do not understand this supplementary narrative raised by PulaskiVolFan that hunting wins is a bad thing. I mean....isn’t that what EVERY program worth their salt is trying to do? Isn’t that why college football has become an industry that allows coaches to take in $4-7 million a year for mediocre results?

Our fanbase wanting to win football games doesn’t make us any more toxic or volatile than any other fanbase. It makes us the exact same.

I’m sorry, but 3-7 in year 3 for a $4 million coach doesn’t cut it. I’m not going to support that and I don’t blame anyone else that doesn't either.

If 3-7 and “trying your best” is the point we’re at then we might as well shutter the program and spend that extra $15-$20 million in coaching salaries on the baseball and basketball teams.
